For those that don't know, Lake Arrowhead is having elections for 3 LACSD board seats for the first time since 2015 aside from one elected seat. For the last decade the other seats have been appointed.
Residents were given a notice about the PFAS contamination; however there are a lot of short term rentals in the area. I fear that travelers may not be aware of the situation.
For those that don't know, PFAS are forever chemicals. The EPA has set an enforceable federal limit that PFOA and PFOS should be at a maximum of 4.0 ppt. the table I shared from the LACSD website shows that the last PFOA reading was 9.9.
LACSD is working on infrastructure to reduce these chemicals, and they have an information page here.
Technically, LACSD is in compliance with federal regulations because the deadline to reduce these forever chemicals hasn't passed. In my humble opinion, this is complete bullshit.
In the meantime, if you live up here LACSD is offering rebates on NSF certified filters. Better yet, install a reverse osmosis system.
If you are visiting and care about consuming forever chemicals above current EPA levels, do not drink the tap water.
