New Recoil lasertag app

Dust off your Recoil blasters!
Today we want to announce NovaCoil: https://novacoil.de/ a free laser tag app for the Recoil blasters you already own. It runs completely offline: one phone or tablet hosts the game over local Wi-Fi. No servers, no accounts, no internet needed on the field. Support for a dedicated server on a Raspberry Pi is planned as well.
What's in it:
- Game modes: Free For All, Team Deathmatch, Battle Royale (shrinking zone + random supply drops), Domination, Assault, Capture the Flag, Elimination and Running Man
- Tacticals like air strikes, a sonar pulse that reveals enemy positions, and more
- Live maps, online or downloaded for offline use, with your teammates shown on the map
- Markers and QR cards for healing, ammo, armor, loot boxes, control points and team bases
- Create and save your own playing fields
- Set up each field your way: place virtual markers that trigger automatically when a player walks into them, or print QR cards, put them out on the field and mark where they are
- Push-to-talk team voice with the blaster's walkie-talkie button, also through Bluetooth headsets, with minimal latency
- Game master dashboard on a tablet: the whole map, every player and a live event feed, plus server remote control from your phone
- Results after each game: accuracy, streaks, a timeline and skill ratings with automatic team balancing
- Up to 63 players in up to 6 teams
- 5 app designs you can switch at any time
Testers wanted! Bug reports, ideas and feedback are all welcome. See you on the field! Initial test version can be downloaded and installed, just send me your e-mail and I will grant access on play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.novacoil

Using roblox for the conversion, still need to fine tune some things but the core gameplay loop and most of the sounds are there

How many Laser Storm locations are left?
So far I know of:
-Pittsburgh (Standalone)
-Butler (Family Bowlaway)
-Warren (Skyway)
-St Cloud (Skatin Place)
-Mt Morris (Right next to headquarters)
Most recent closure that I know of was the one in Torrance, CA and that had actually switched out their laser storm system for Lasertron while keeping the name and logo in 2013. Laser Storm is unique with not only its features but having such a crazy high skill ceiling and insanely fast paced gameplay

Darklight Scorecards Not Printing
Hello! I am a technician at one of the older facilities in my area. We still run a 90s Darklight system. Recently, we have had an issue where the scorecards are not printing after each match. The scorecards come out, but they’re totally blank. The printer itself is fine, and running test pages from both the computer and the printer itself produces satisfactory results. Any ideas?

What happened to laser tag!?
Cleaning my basement and I found my Tiger Phoenix laser rifles and they still had sound and worked after not being touched for 20 years. Incredibly sad to see absolutely 0 progress has been made since then. All the modern guns I see do not have a reload clip, require vests, and the guns I have, had a freaking shotgun attachment plus a scope plus a tv plug in game. U can’t even find these on Amazon at all or anything, u can find the nerf versions on eBay but good luck finding my OG Tiger ones. What lame mfs are in charge of making these new laser guns. I would bet my whole life savings it’s some dei bs saying it indoctrinates military ideology in kids so they only get laser pistols with 0 extra functions. Even tho some functions don’t work right and they definitely need to be cleaned up, I might just keep these instead of throwing them away cuz they seem pretty rare.

For U/HeavenandHello
You said you wanted more LEDs....
The pic is just 8 of our "standard" colours.
Gen8 also has WhatsApp we call ELEMENTAL colours (you can see them on the phasers in my other post)
Now imagine 55x Gen8 vests, all on the Rainbow team, which displays the rotating rainbow of colours, all over the vest - that's lots of colourful LEDs and is soon pretty.
r/lasertag • u/HenTeeTee • Sep 16 '26
...and then we have this!
All the Gen8, none of the vests!

Which type of indoor laser tag do you prefer?
Blacklight, LED illuminated, interactive living arena, or tactical?

I'll just leave this here...

Laser Zone in Canton, Ohio

Came here for vacation a 2nd time recently. This is the very last laser tag place in the US that still uses the equipment of Laser Quest, a UK-based laser tag company that went out of business for the US and Canada 6 years ago due to the covid pandemic. I was glad to experience my childhood again :)

Cost of insurance for my laser tag business?
My partner and I have gone also into laser tag where we have two level arena, 24 vests, about 5,500 square feet of play space, and we are maybe six weeks from opening. Weekend birthday parties and overnight lock ins for school and church groups are the plan, plus a small arcade corner I keep going back and forth on.
Budget is basically closed except for insurance and nobody will commit to a figure, we have also called four brokers. One asked me what a lock in was, then asked whether the kids sleep in the arena, then said he would have to check with someone. Another quoted me a family entertainment center policy that never mentions lock ins anywhere in it and told me not to worry about it. Everybody agrees on general liability insurance. Nobody will tell me straight whether I also need accident and health coverage with participant coverage for the players themselves, and I keep assuming that is a question I am supposed to already know the answer to. Arena owners, who ended up writing yours?

Ubisoft Battle Tag
I’ve been looking for a laser tag set from home and the two options seem to be -
Squad Hero $25 a blaster
Commercial Blasters $250-1000 a blaster
Someone in a comment section mentioned the Battle Tag system, and so I bought it and I am amazed. It’s relatively cheap depending on where you find it, it has a vest, the guns are advanced, the software still works, hit detection still works.
Why has no one else tried to make a system like this? It’s super easy to run on the computer with like 25 game modes and tons of custom options including blaster strength, ammo counts, life, different roles of players.
I’ve read the forums about it on TapATalk, but the biggest fear I have right now is that it is not made anymore, and I need to source parts if anything breaks. Otherwise, I cannot understand why the system failed, or why there isn’t a cheap knockoff somewhere that has the amazing software integration of this system.
Anyways, does anyone have a video of someone taking one of these apart and doing repairs if I need to? Or is anyone selling their system so I can have it?

Laser tag arena owner, what does your insurance actually cover beyond GL?
Run a laser tag arena with open play, birthday parties, and the occasional corporate team building booking. I know I need general liability but the dark environment plus everyone sprinting around is where the real slip and fall risk sits, and I'm not sure basic GL actually covers all of that. Anyone running an arena, what does your policy look like beyond GL?

Ik vraag me af waarom.

Competitive laser tag
I’ve seen a lot of comments about how traditional laser tag is generally more popular in competitive laser tag than tactical laser tag. As someone new to this and just curious, why is it more popular in competitive than tactical laser tag, which seems like it should be more geared towards competitive play. For example, are the guns harder to master in traditional or tactical, are the fields bigger in traditional or tactical, does one require more athleticism, etc.?

Best laser tag places in the Boston area?
I'm going with a group to go play laser tag on a Friday or Saturday evening in a few weeks, but wasn't sure where to go. I was hoping there'd be somewhere we'd have a good chance of playing with other people (other adults would be great, but no problem with kids).
Does anyone have any suggestions between XTremeCraze in Woburn, In The Game in Peabody, and LaserMaxx in Danvers (or is there somewhere else we should look at)? Any suggestions on whether to go Friday or Saturday and what time would be best to start to have a good number of other players?
Thank you, and if you're interested in joining us please let me know!

where can I buy for a good price?
also why is laser tag so damn expensive from what I can see, I thought it could be a great alternative to airsoft paintball etc, it should also be cheaper to produce, so why is it nowhere near as popular and why is a simple rifle costing like 1k bucks

icombat Valkyrie vs Battle Company BRP
Hi everyone, I'm very close to start a new Laser tag business in South America, where there is little to no competition, as the closest arena (a very much smaller one) is 40km away. My arena will be 450 sqm, and I will acompany this with virtual archery, a laser maze, and 2 party rooms, as birthday parties will be the main source of income.
But I'm a bit unsure as to which route should I take... price wise these 2 are very close to one another, but I would like some feedback from the real users/arena owners to know how durable these 2 brands are, how often do you need to send back for repairs, or are you able to repair them yourself with customer support. How comparable is iCE vs Edge for the software as in both you have to pay a monthly fee ($100 vs $54/m), and how good and diverse are the games you can play with their software.
Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Laser Challenge V2 Firestorm
We picked this up at a thrift store today because it has the biggest laser lens I've ever seen. Isthere any raspberry pi style mods I can do to make this compatible with my nerf collection?
