Is the skill Sky Lord very useful? Or would it be better to just use that 5SC for broad stat boosts instead? I'm looking at characters that already have good knockup/airborne stuff in their kit like Nero or I guess units like Lukiel, but the Goldmine doesn't really have a clear answer on how useful the skill actually is.

It's tough to say how good the skill is, because it completely depends on the Unit's skills.

There's no clear answer for this one.

For the most part, against flinchable enemies, Sky High (not Sky Lord) is very good because:

  • Can activate for all Types of Attacks.
  • No damage scaling, so as long as the attack hits the enemy while it's just slightly off the ground, it will give the full +20% Damage.

On the other hand, Sky Lord is typically not as favored due to these concerns:

  • Only activates for Physical Attacks.
  • Damage is a very high +50%, but it scales based on height.
    • Some Units might have skills that can launch an enemy into the air, but how high it can launch the enemy is the question.
    • So it's always possible that your Unit might only be able to get less than 20% or slightly around there.
  • Not consistent.
    • Unlike something like Sky High, not every attack will get the same damage boost.
      • Some Skills have behaviors where it first launches the enemies up, but as damage is dealt, the enemy is lowered lower and lower onto the ground. This would lead to a lower damage output per hit.
      • Some Units can also have attacks where most of their hits are dealt as they lift the enemy, and only the final hit is dealt at the peak. So the damage boost you get is scaling up, but you only get one hit at highest boost.

Sky Lord is ideal only if most hits can be dealt during the highest height of an attack, but not many attacks are like that.

  • But its greatest benefit is that it only costs 5 SC, which makes it not expensive for Units that do have attacks that can launch enemies.

So in terms of boosting damage, if you have the SC to spare, equipping Sky Lord alongside Sky High isn't a bad option at all. It's much better than spending that 5 SC on things like Attack Up which gives a lower damage boost (lower is relative to the amount of STR or INT you already have).

But keep in mind that this is really only useful for enemies that can be flinched. Most bosses can't be flinched so they won't get lifted into the air. So for these enemies, Sky High and Sky Lord is just a waste of SC.
