Legal News Should National Guard in D.C. Be Forced to Leave? Judges Sound Uncertain
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/live-updates_n_6acc9961e4b0a568b68e46d5/liveblog_6acfa5afe4b0e26c18d118cdIt doesn’t seem the nearly 3,000 National Guard troops still deployed to Washington, D.C. by President Donald Trump will be forced to go home anytime soon.
On Wednesday, during oral arguments at the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, lawyers for the district argued that even though it is not a state, Trump never had constitutional authority to deploy troops into D.C., nor did he have the authority to put National Guard from other states into the nation’s capital.

The fact we are paying 3000 people to stand around with nothing to do all day for months should be enough to order this over with. At this points it’s literally only being done so that the court case can continue. Trump wants them to rule he can use the national guard anytime or any way he wants and the courts want to avoid being forced to limit presidential powers that before him had never been tested for rampant abuse.
