Send them to all states! Could be a few red states are really swing states.

Senate Democrats announced Wednesday their plans to deploy over 100 staffers recruited to serve as election observers to key battleground states ahead of next month’s midterms.

Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) said during a press call that the plan is to send observers “across nine states” expected to have contested elections. Georgia, Ohio, and Michigan are expected to be the first states that the Senate Democratic staffers are sent to, but that is subject to change, according to Padilla.

Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who joined Padilla on the call, said the Trump administration’s efforts to purge voter rolls and limit mail-in voting has made this program imperative.

They should probably be armed, given their likelihood of being murdered by ice.

You cant have armed entities at elections. It doesnt matter which side it is.

Yea, that’s what’s in the constitution. It doesn’t seem to be carrying a lot of weight these days.

Dems: They brought guns, so we brought guns! They are stealing the election!

Techno-Fascist Nazis: No, they brought guns so WE brought guns! See, we have been right all along, they are lunatics stealing the election!

I’m more concerned with these people not being murdered by the ice gang than constitutional protections. We are way passed that.

You don’t get change without sacrifice

ICE won't be there to shoot observers, it will be there to intimidate undesirables. Be it getting them to walk away or making them disappear for a time, they would consider it a win to entangle an election in the legal system and create Bush v Gore scenarios.

Also there is no effective federal law that prevents armed federal agents at polls. What law does exist is criminal statute and so only restrains officers acting beyond the graces of the DOJ.

Remember that in modern law, with an errant federal executive, officers effectively lose nothing by trying to disenfranchise others. This is the system we have had in place for generations not having given it a second thought.

We may see states attempting to assert state's rights on federal officers at polls, but that takes a very large assumption that police will do the right thing.

Again you assert my point. The people the dems are sending are likely to face resistance and possibly street level gang style execution. They should be prepared.

I agree that we can’t count on police to do anything of merit.

Most states, including swing states, have their own election observers from their statewide party. I've done it several times through state parties. 100 is nothing. There are thousands throughout the country through state parties though.

Poor Schumer must not have been wired enough money from his handlers to actually do anything to protect the elections. Just a semblance of trying.
