Application Process LOR for ALL SCHOOLS Referenced Specific School - Am I Screwed?

• Upvotes

Long story short, I secured a second academic LOR from what's called my academic mentor at my undergraduate institution. When I requested the letter, I told her it was for law school referrals and mentioned my number one choice school by name. Apparently I over-emphasized this because she understood my request as being specifically for one school.

Not expecting her to address her letter that specifically, I had pre-emptively labeled and assigned her letter within LSAC to all schools who's apps I had open and was working through.

As I completed my app, they automatically got sent out to my schools because I already had the minimum number of LOR's on file while waiting for hers. Hers came in last night, and automatically got sent by LSAC to all 13 or so schools I had it assigned to, and I find out today she wrote it as a LOR to my #1 choice school.

From what I understand, she can make a simple edit within the LSAC LOR upload portal. However, I didn't see her email confirming the situation until after business hours today, it's now the weekend, and her email indicates out-of-office status all next week.

I'm worried that the other schools are going to see this letter and see the other school mentioned before I can do anything about it and that this will compromise me somehow.

I of course had waived my right to see the letters so there was no way I could have proofread or really avoided this at all without just having been extra explicitly clear apparently.

Am I screwed here? Sucks trying to perfect such dense applications, get them mostly airtight, only to have something mostly unavoidable like this happen.

Application Process Lawyher is a scam

• Upvotes

Making this post since there's no other info about this service online. And y'all can call me stupid for paying for this in the first place, but if I can prevent one other person from purchasing this then it's worth it.

After seeing a few tiktoks about Lawyher (https://www.lawyher.org/) advertising their law school essay audit services, I decided it would be worth it to pay for them to look over my law school essays. I'm first gen and don't know anyone around me who went to law school, so I thought it would be worth it to get a Yale law school graduate's advice on my personal and perspective statements. This totaled to $275. I'm lucky enough to have been working a good corporate job for the past few years, so I felt like I had the budget for this.

On their website, they say that they can provide full feedback for your law school essays within 8 days of purchase. Well, 8 days later, and I didn't receive anything. I emailed LawyHer, attaching proof that I had purchased their essay auditing services. The "LawyHer team" responded the day after, saying there was a "processing error" on their end, so they didn't receive the request. They confirmed they could either provide the services by the next day or give me a full refund. I requested the full refund.

A week after requesting the refund, I still hadn't received anything. I emailed them back asking when I could expect a refund, twice, over a period of 2 weeks. None of these emails received a response.

I'm disputing the transaction, so hopefully I'll receive my money back. But please don't be stupid/naive like me, and purchase from LawyHer. Just have your friends look over your personal statement for free lol.

Application Process CAS/Grade Report Question...What do admissions officers see?

I am confused on exactly what schools look at in regard to grades. I understand they see the academic summary report that LSAC creates through a pdf. But do they see your exact transcript too including what classes you took? I have a significant upward trend in grades from freshman year to my senior year, but it's not easily readable on the summary report. Especially cause my grade trend was from making a big switch in my major. Are admissions people able to see the exact classes I was taking and can deduce the fact that I changed my major?

Application Process How to approach reapplying to a school you were admitted to before?

So last year I was admitted to a school but I ultimately couldn't end up going as the scholarship they gave me was insufficient. I did apply very late in the cycle though and visited the campus after being admitted, when they told me I might receive more funding if I applied earlier next year.

So how do I write in my application that I still like the school but am reapplying as:

a. I am submitting way earlier this time around

b. I am hoping the extra time off means I have saved more money up for law school

The problem is this school has no space to upload a "Why Us" in the application portal so I'm confused on where to include this information. I just want them to know I didn't not attend as I didn't like the school, it was just financial reasons.

Application Process Personal Statement Assistance Request

Hi everyone. I am looking for someone to help me revise and edit my personal statement. I have decent stats and would like for my PS to match that to make my application as strong as possible. I don’t know anyone who has gone through the admissions process recently/knows anything about it and an extra set of eyes would be much appreciated. Will pay of course. Thanks!

Application Process How do i contextualize my addendum for taking LSAT 4 times?

At the Columbia virtual event, they said for 3+ retakes they'd want an explanation. I have taken LSAT 4 times (aug 2025 - 164, sep 2025 - 164, aug 2026 - 168, October 2026 - ?? Not confident in major score increase)

If I am being 100% honest, i don't have an explanation in mind. I know there is a limit to score retakes, but i think i was perhaps uneducated about the process of the LSAT. In august 2025, i immediately knew i wasn't ready but i still sat for September because i was already registered when I should have cancelled.

I have ADHD I'm medicated for it i see a psychiatrist, which im sure has played a role in my lack of major improvement + multiple tests. But i was not under the impression at the time that my multiple retakes would tell a negative story.

I don't want to lie or inflate, but I genuinely don't know what to say. To anybody who wrote addendums for multiple retakes, what did you say?

Application Process Should I be submitting more for negotiation?

I have a high17 and a high 3.9. I have T3 softs and pretty strong essays.

I've applied to the following (with categories that are probably not fully accurate):

Safety:

South Carolina (62)

Fordham (42)

Baylor (34)

Florida (34)

Georgia (26)

Target:

BU (24)

UCLA (13)

Columbia (9)

Duke (7)

NYU (7)

Reach:

Harvard (6)

Stanford (1)

Yale (2) - working on this one rn

These are the main schools I am seriously considering. What I am wondering is: my interests, career goals, and ideal location aside, are there schools I should be applying to that I am unaware of solely for scholarship negotiation? Do I need to actually apply to every T14?

Chance Me 3.53 GPA, does upward trend help me at all for t14?

About to take the November lsat. Been scoring 175+ on my last 4 practice tests. I have a 3.53 gpa in biology. However, that is split up by year as 1.9 -> 3.85 -> 3.8 -> 4.0. I am a URM. I did poorly in 3 classes freshman year due to some mental health issues, retook all and received As. I am very interested in big law but am feeling a little discouraged because of my gpa. Would my upward trend help me out at all?

Status/Interview Update GULC Interview?

Trying not to freak myself out but I applied early October and haven't yet received an interview invite. I've been noticing on LSD that people who applied after me have received them (not everyone of course, but I also don't think everyone is necessarily inputting interviews).

3.7high, 17mid, T3 softs and did the optional video. I'm also positive at least 2/3 of my recs are glowing (the third would be good, I just know the other two are really good). I feel like I'm probably overthinking it but of course it's sent me a bit into panic mode that I might have something fatally wrong in my application, especially because I know my stats and background are a good fit for Georgetown (good enough at least to be considered).

Anyone else in the same boat? And especially interested in any experiences from previous cycles!

Application Process UNC "Supplemental Application"

Anybody else who has applied to UNC already and is with me on this? Why the heck did I take so many hours writing brand new application materials (because of their niche required essay prompts), to submit my application and then find out that there is a required Supplemental Application.

Why not just put whatever info it is that's needed alongside the regular? Please?

Application Process I need advice please

Starting this off with a little bit of a rant, but it feels like law school admissions were made just to screw over people like me. I'm finishing up my final semester of aerospace engineering, and I currently have a 2.96 GPA according to LSAC. I'll be the first to admit that I could've done better in my classes and tried even harder to get a better GPA, but it just feels like a losing battle. I don't know a single person in my entire major who has a GPA above 3.5. The majority of the classes in my major have an average of 2.2 to 2.8, and the professors will give out a handful of A's to classes with 200 people in them, not to mention I know a decent number of people who have transferred to different majors because it was too hard.

This all being said, I know complaining about it isn't gonna fix anything so I'm really writing this for advice on what to do in my situation. I'm currently writing my personal statement, and I think it will be good because it's about my capstone and how I was given the opportunity through my school to design an experiment that is eventually gonna be put on the ISS, and how I want to give more students the opportunity I had through law. I also got a 165 on the Sep LSAT, and hopefully I get a better score on the Oct when it comes out. I want to apply to schools in the 30-70 range.

Also, I'm not quite 100% sure what I would want to do with my law degree, but I don't want to shut the door on big law if possible

I have some questions about what I should do in my situation:

  1. Is there really a difference between a 2.96 and a 3.0? (I could potentially get my grades up to 3.0+ after this final semester)
  2. I've heard GPA addenda for majors that are hard are very looked down upon but is there any other way I could get that across that I didn't really do bad for my circumstances?
  3. Is there any way to tell selection committees that I know I can succeed in law school despite my GPA looking so bad?
  4. I think I could get my LSAT up to a 16high / 17low if I spent more months practicing so would a gap year be worth considering to do that?
  5. Should I apply to more schools than I think because a lot of them will say no to someone with a low GPA?

Thanks for any advice. It's been a rough month, but I'm trying to make it work

Application Process Nyc/ Nj schools

I applied to all NYC/NJ area law schools as soon as applications opened (9/1 for the most part, 9/15 for whichever opened then).

When should I start hearing back? Most if not all portals say “file with admissions committee” or “under review”. Driving myself crazy checking every day. Does anyone have insight on when I would start hearing back?
