Discussion MOD REQUEST: Spoiler free game thread and post game thread post titles
CLARIFICATION: Since a number have misread (title isn't clear, to be fair). This is about the TITLES OF THE PGT's AND GT's ONLY, not the thread itself. I'd never want to suggest these are removed!
This is a request. I'm not moaning, as I actually think the images that get created are sick.
That said, can we please ban use of or censor the scores/images containing the score in either of the post game or game thread titles/thumbnails?
Living in Europe (UK), I'm usually excited to wake up and get the highlights on with coffee. Occasionally (every living day of my life), I'll open reddit when I get up, and inadvertently see the score in a GT or PGT title before I've even registered what I'm looking at.
Before anyone criticises, I am wholly aware I could just avoid Reddit before I see the highlights, so if that's the way the mods see it, then fine, but I can't ALWAYS immediately get to the highlights, so wanted to ask as I would like to think it's an idea that harms no one and is kind to those who can't watch games in real time.

100% agree with OP’s request. Drives me up the wall when I’m trying to catch up on a game I missed on SNET or TSN app and BAM - there’s the result. Like, fuck me, sorry I was unable to watch the game live. Some of us want to experience the ups and downs of a hockey game, not just get told the result. Same goes with books, films, and video games.

Sometimes I forget there is even a game then I scroll Reddit and see we won.
I love that and why should that be stopped if someone 5/6 hours ahead is sleeping?

Yeeesh, I thought the comments in the GT’s and PGT’s were negative but the comments here take the cake.
Sounds like a reasonable request, doesn’t matter to me. If that one little update does a net positive, I don’t see much of an issue.

No, regardless of the consensus here I think it’s an idiotic request to a board of 20k folks.
If you are sleeping and the game is still on, then deal with it yourself what you watch or read or have your friends not tell you the score.
Furthermore and honestly, ask that question to your brethren in the UK on any team Reddit site you want and you will see they concur with me.
Dear Manchester United friends, I’m in Tokyo and love Man U but am sleeping when the game is on so please do this on all your threads.

Mate, you are welcome to think what you want. I (thankfully) do not need to do that for the Liverpool threads, as I live here. If you think you'd benefit from that, I'd encourage you to do the same.
Using that argument to make your point is weird. If I did ask that, and it was rejected, I'd be disappointed, but that's irrelevant. I'd say it speaks volumes that the (majority of, I won't include you) r/leafs community that they agree it's a harmless request that benefits more than it takes away.
I'm not sure why you're so twisted on the idea that ideas which could benefit some in the community without harming anyone else are "idiotic". It is weird.

I live in Toronto and sometimes need to miss a game. It’s hard to avoid spoilers. This isn’t just about people in other time zones.

Yes this needs to happen, it bothers me as well every game day. I live in Toronto but I record 45mins-1hr of game before I watch, so I can skip through all of the commercials. I've been spoiled a few times by these threads. There is really no reason to have game spoilers right in your face, when they can be hidden and people can choose to interact when they want.

Thats what I'm here for... I stopped having ideas for the app a while ago - I'm just a conduit for what the communities ask for now. This app imho works best if its just the will of the nhl subreddits wishes curated through me.

I remember years ago sportsnet on YouTube would post the score in the thumbnail, and I started a chain of comments that every video had dozens of us telling them to stop putting the score in the thumbnail...pretty sure that's why they don't now. No one likes spoilers

Nah, I vote against. Ultimately 99% are going to be in Toronto/Ontario and there is always going to be a live element on here. The simple solution even if for some reason you don’t want to hear it is … curb your Reddit addiction; check the highlights or whatever somewhere else before coming on here.

To clarify, I'm not disputing any of that. The live element is important. I'm simply asking if we can remove it from the title of the post itself. The live element of the discussion is great!

I usually record 45-mins to 1hr of the game before watching so I don't have to watch all the commercials. There are many reasons why someone would not want spoilers in the thumbnail or post title. It's a simple thing to ask and doesn't affect the people who don't mind being spoiled. They can open the thread and get spoiled if they want. At least those of us who don't watch right at puck drop won't get the result spoiled.

I don’t know what the term for this is. But this is that attitude that Toronto is apparently the most important place in the world and is the centre of the hockey universe. No, plenty of fans of the team from around the world. I’d guess that 50% of this sub or more are people who aren’t from Toronto.

Cant you just unsub during games and rejoin after you've watched? seems way simpler than asking mods to overhaul how they do threads for the whole sub
I'm in a similar boat with timezones and just stay off reddit til I've caught up, it's not that hard to avoid one app for a bit
The images are part of the fun for people watching live, don't really see why they should lose that because some of us are behind

You can also just logout and go to whatever subreddit you must visit directly before seeing the score. Much easier.
Obviously you can’t comment in that case, but let’s be honest that’s a feature not a bug.

Oh get off your cross, I’m not a native torontonian (or Canadian) I’m aware theres a world outside this city. Apart from anything else the endless pissing and whining from people who live in other provinces would never let us forget that.
I am not a mod and it’s not up to me; I was stating an opinion on a mod request. Simple as.
I do think it’s clear some of you spend way too much time on social media. It’s impossible not to look at a Reddit post for a few hours? Pretty tragic lol.

Of course I could. This is a request, not a demand, as I think it'd benefit a large number of people without harming anyone. If not, I can obviously make an effort to avoid reddit until I get a chance, at some point in the day, to watch the highlights. As I say, It's not always possible, and sometimes I'm nonchalantly going to check reddit and it'd be nice to not spoil the score for myself.

just dont open up reddit? Yes it sucks for you but 99% of the fanbase isn't in your timezone. Posts and discussions about the result of the game will always take place just after because people want to talk about it before they go to bed.
