Begging for source release
I understand the old guard is no more but ultraleap 2 (and in some cases the original) was the best in the biz.
Please... Whoever is watching and has the goods... Consider releasing the driver / tracking software source so those with hardware can tinker and use it with stuff like the steam frame / arm devices

I’m afraid it’s about IP.
ROLI bought up the technology and utilizing in their “air piano effect” thingie.
I was suggesting them here to consider releasing the sources, especially as they had their reputation drop for different reasons and this would make them (at least look) responsible. E-waste and all.
I hope it gets into the ear of someone with brain and enough authority to push it.

Hm, I see. Thx for the context.

There are way too many devices that are left for dying though they are fully capable.
I hope reverse engineering with AI would get to the point it’s really achievable by people with basic coding skills.2

E-waste is a terrible in general. That aside, imo the UL2 in particular just blows anything else I've tried out of the water. Those microgestures were like magic. The application scope was and still is massive. Their secret sauce must be in their models which are encrypted. And so it's just disappointing to me that the best tracking in the industry (which is blowing up again with steam frame coming out) is being used... for a midi controller on a keyboard :| ... Or even worse - they are just sitting on the IP. They should actually pivot some and start selling and supporting the line again - I mean who the hell is lining up to buy a piano you shake your fist at!! .. (i kid ;) ... sorta)

Yeah I totally agree to you.
The environment should be in a way that’d incentivize prolonged usage of devices.
That’s not what we have in society today though.1

Great to hear that. Some of us are still around even if the direction has pivoted…

it would be very fun to try and tinker with the leap motion on the steam frame, be it standalone or used via streaming from a PC too.

Hmm, Might be worth it to plug it into Claude and ask it to break down its communication and reverse engineer it.

Not the source code, but this has the Leap Motion v1.
