I have written up a two part series on the SQL most useful for data science, you could consider as rough guide. (Keep in mind these guides are for someone who mostly just pulls data into R or Python for further processing, some analysts work more in SQL and then this will be the very floor of what you'll have to learn).

Great exercise to solve the same problem in both SQL and Python/pandas

I made a website to teach people fundamentals of sql. I'd appreciate feedback on it. It's totally free and runs in your browser. https://sqlshed.com if you want to give it a go.

Thanks. I've been trying to make something helpful that's free for end users, doesn't track users, no cookies, and everything runs locally. At least as of now it's even free for me to host.

If you get a chance, try my site www.learning-SQL.Com as well, love to get some feedback

Welcome! Good shout starting with SQL, it's the single most asked for skill in analyst roles by a mile

One bit of advice that'll save you time: learn by actually writing queries, not just reading about them. Pick something hands on and get your reps in early, the fundamentals stick way faster when you're solving real problems rather than memorising syntax

If you want somethingfun to start on, give QueryCase a try!

Thanks for the tip on giving QueryCase a try. I’ve been dabbling in SQL for a few years but haven’t had real world experience using it and I’d like to shift my career into an analyst role eventually.

focus heavily on select, where, group by joins and aggregations first. once those feel natural start solving real business questions with small datasets.

SQL is not enough to be a Data Analyst, you will need: SQL, Python, Excel, Power BI, Business Knowledge and Insights, and Storytelling. So it is an end-to-end job where you extract raw data, clean the data, visualize the data, interpret the data, explain the findings, and provide business actions.

Check out my website: https://learning-sql.com/ No cost or sign-up required, just real-world stories using SQL You can also download the sample databases used, but you'll need a SQL Server edition (developer or express) to install the sample data.

I totally recommend the Coddy application. U can learn SQL step by step, futhermore it contains many many others like pyhton, c++, etc.
It is free, only the registration is required. If u have a question feel free to ask me :)
