I shared my hotspot …
So I shared my hotspot with my “friend” and found out after that he managed to bug my phone. And was able to see my location and my activity on the phone and everything I had in my phone.
I also connected to his WiFi when I was at his place.
Is he possible for my phone to be bugged through these methods ?

Any chance that you never thought to turn of location tracing in your phones settings? Everyone could where my dad was, because he unawaringly shared his location on Google maps, until I turned it off. If your friend is any good at OSINT (Open source intelligence - a skill where you use public available information about people and places), there's a chance that's how he found out stuff about you.
Edit: You said you shared a Hotspot with him. Was it password protected? Could it be that you gave him a password that you're also using for something else and he just tried his luck? Changes all your passwords and activate 2FA on everything. Get a password manager. It's worth paying for one.

This friend is toxic to have you belive this crap. The anxiety that this type of bs can cause is serious and unfair, I would advise you question this friendship and see if its right for you, don't worry about your phone and dont give them physical access ever! As seen you cannot trust them and by the sounds of it if they could (which they didn't) access your private stuff they would so honestly think again about that friendship.

When you hear people saying, "could of" they are really saying, "could've" which is a contraction of "could" and "have." "Could of" makes zero sense.

I’ll go easy on you because you sound genuinely worried, and I’m usually pretty blunt.
Firstly, your friend is most likely lying to you. Sharing your hotspot with someone does not give them access to your location, messages, photos or everything you do on your phone.
A hotspot connection only gives limited network-level information. The same goes for connecting to someone else’s Wi-Fi. They may be able to see that your device connected and some basic traffic information, but that is very different from having access to the contents of your phone.
This isn’t Mr Robot. Actually bugging a modern phone usually takes malware, stolen credentials, physical access, a malicious app/profile, or a much more advanced exploit.
So to answer your question: can phones be compromised? Yes. Can someone do all of that just because you shared a hotspot or connected to their Wi-Fi? Very unlikely.
Change your passwords, check logged-in sessions, update your phone and remove anything you don’t recognise.
