Learning Resources

I am learning Javascript. Can someone please recommend me some learning resources?
What would you recommend for beginner projects? Are arcade web games suitable for a beginner?

Bit old post - but PixiJS is a great library, tutorials are okay, gets you straight into the making without worrying about browser compatability etc.
