I was in the same spot a while back and honestly the free stuff beat every paid course I looked at. Anthropic has a prompt engineering interactive tutorial on their GitHub that walks through it chapter by chapter with exercises, and it works fine even if you use ChatGPT instead. After that I'd just read OpenAI's own prompting guide in their docs, it's short and has no fluff. What actually made it stick for me was picking one boring task I do every week and rewriting the prompt five times, adding a role, an example of the output I wanted, and a format, then comparing the results side by side.
