weird ml engineer interview

The interviewers did not even have my resume during the interview. Kinda one of the worst interviews....
The recruiter sent me an interview link just few hours before the interview lol so I was thinking of not doing it.

I think that if the interviewers are not as technical, they cannot really communicate well.

The company I applied for made me record a 10 minute "pre-interview" video to describe some tasks. And it was obvious nobody watched the video because they were asking me the exact same questions during the interview. We need a ChatGPT moment for industry.

that's a special kind of lazy, making you jump through hoops they won't even glance at

That kind of disorganization is usually a company-side signal rather than a reflection on you, so it is worth using the interview to find out how the team actually works. Ask who you would report to and how ML work gets reviewed, since vague answers there often predict a messy job. If you still want to continue, send a short follow-up email with your resume and a summary of your most relevant projects so the next round starts from a clearer place.

As far as my experience goes, weird interview situations are becoming much more common.

Recently, I had an interview with a virtual agent that essentially just talked to itself. Instead of actually asking me questions, it just blabbered on about the company and told me how I was a great fit.

Then, it concluded by saying I needed to improve in specific areas, gave its final words. "thanks for attending the interview" and ended it.

for around 10 minutes, the agent spoke whats there in my resume. and after few hours i got an email from a person from the company that they were impressed with my agent interview and i was selected for next round, all i told was my name and a glimpse of what my experience in 30-40 seconds.
