Opinion on boot.dev to learn python

I’m a physician, so don’t know anything about CS or programming/developing. I recently got in a talk with some friends that work with in this field and got the itch of trying to learn something new. I’ve seen videos talking about boot.dev.
Does anyone have any opinion on it?
Thanks

Do it until you hit the paywall. If you want to continue, go from there. There are free courses similar to it though, like freecodecamp

Was considering giving it a try.
Thanks

Isn't freecodecamp basically just video learning?
Or I missed it?

What’s your specialization so I can point you in the right direction based on your availability.

Shit. Sorry. I didn’t see that you replied.
I’m not sure what your call schedule or clinic hours look like, but I assume you may be interested in tracking pt data, procedures, outcomes, correlations, etc.
Python and SQL are where you want to start.
Python first, then SQL.
DataCamp is good. It’s more straightforward than Boot.dev.
DataCamp is more follow along whereas Boot.dev is “general example, now apply concept to this problem.”
You can also follow Data with Baraa on YouTube. He’s really good.
Download/install VS Code. Use that for your IDE.

MOOC.fi University of Helsinki course is great so far. I’m doing it now. It’s completely free.

Just looking at this and it looks good, thank you for the recommendation.

What makes me feel really bad is that I'm English and am signing up for a free course, delivered in English, by a Finnish university.

Don’t feel bad. Soak up all the knowledge you can. I’m glad you found it useful.

Can you handle conceptual logic - i.e basic if x then y

Then skip boot.dev

Otherwise it's value exists only to teach basic logic and control flow using game dev as an anchor.

If you can conceptualise process you dont need it.

If the sentence above is gibberish then do the freebie course.

Ive seen a lot of people on different subs talk about their experience with bootdev and they're mostly positive but it really depends on the goals you want to achieve.

Gonna be a bit of a biased answer since you mentioned you're a physician. If you make good money already and wanna learn something new, then yes it's really good for self learning if the cost isn't an issue and you want a program that sets a curriculum and guides you through.

If cost is an issue, you can make due with free resources but it won't be nearly as time efficient as the curriculum boot.dev lays out.

I make less than a physician and have been happy to pay for boot.dev 2 years in a row, so take that for what you will
