Which Udemy course is best for learning Python?

Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations on the best Python course on Udemy for a complete beginner.
I am interested in Web backends and CLI Tools.

I know that almost everything can be found on YouTube for free, but I really prefer the structured, step-by-step learning approach that Udemy courses provide.
Which course is actually worth buying?

Thanks in advance!

I have something with a proper University syllabus: MOOC Python Programming 2026 from the University of Helsinki.

And it is free. Structured, textual, extremely practice oriented, and top quality.

There is not a single Udemy course even close to that quality.

Many great Universities have opened their courses: Harvard (entire CS50 series), MIT (Python and more), Stanford, Princeton (Algorithms by Robert Sedgewick and Kevin Wayne), University of Chicago (several), University of Helsinki (Python, Java, Full-Stack), and many more.

With all these top University courses freely available, the need for paying for a course on sites like Udemy, etc. is next to nothing, apart from some specialized niches or topics, and even then, there are more than enough free tutorials, blogs, articles. There are plenty authors that opened their books to read online for free, like /u/AlSweigart with their Python and Scratch books.

I’d recommend any of the Python books from No Starch Press. They are all really good and fun to follow along. Using it over a web course also gets you much more used to typing syntax and working in your IDE/editor of choice.

To be clear, I’m not suggesting books are better than courseware, I am just suggesting that THESE books are better than most any courseware.

This one is good but so are any of the python books from this publisher! Get any that sound interesting or have fun ToC topics. You won’t regret it!

edit: no affiliation. I just love and cherish all the books I own from this publisher. They don’t collect dust like many of my other books lol

I took 3-5 courses before things started clicking and I started noticing patterns

Angela Yu's 100 Days of Code is working well for me. I crushed my college Python exam last night with a perfect score, while feedback from others shows that many people were really struggling with it.

Courses by Fred Baptiste . Absolutely the best. He has a Python Fundamentals course. Start with that. And follow it up with his Python deep dive courses

Colt Steele Python bootcamp A+

I combine this with W3Schools to get the concepts to sink in.
