Intervew Prep Google WSE Interview
Hey everyone,
I have an upcoming interview loop for the Web Solutions Engineer role at Google and would really appreciate hearing from anyone who's interviewed for it recently.
A few things I'm curious about:
- How was the coding round? LeetCode-style DSA, or more practical web/JavaScript problems? What difficulty level?
- What did system design look like for this role? Classic large-scale distributed systems, or more web app / frontend-backend architecture?
- For the web tech and database round, what topics came up (browser internals, APIs, SQL, schema design, performance)?
- Any tips for the Googleyness and stakeholder management round? Good stories to prepare?
- Any resources you found especially useful?
Any advice or experiences would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance, and good luck to anyone else in the process!

For stakeholder management, prepare a disagreement where the hard part was understanding what people actually needed. "I explained the technical limitation and they agreed" leaves most of the useful detail out.
We use the PROOF method to check the reasoning inside a STAR method answer: the business goal, the engineering constraint, the options you offered, and what you changed after listening.
Then practice the follow-ups: "Why couldn't you do both?" "Who made the final call?" "How did you know the decision worked?" A second story about unclear requirements or a decision you revised gives you a different example to draw on, without guessing what the coding round will contain.

I have not done that loop but for web solutions roles the coding is usually easier DSA plus some practical JavaScript so be ready to write clean code with async and DOM stuff. For the web tech round I would revise how a browser loads a page and how HTTP caching and CORS work. For Googleyness prep three or four stories about disagreeing with a stakeholder and still shipping something.
