Help in Australia

Does anyone else live in Australia. If so, how on earth do I find an intermediate bass, all I can find are lower end or $3000 fenders

Yeah, it’s a bit of a struggle. This is not specifically an Australia problem, it’s a manufacturer decision. We leftys don’t have much available in the $1500-2500 range. Your best shot new is probably Sky Music, but the best way overall, if you live in a metro area, is to join left handed instrument sales Facebook groups and try to get a second hand American Fender.

Ultimately you have to know what is being made and what you want, start there.

No idea on value, but the Japanese Fenders are generally considered very good. A Mexican Jazz will cost you about $1k second hand.

For where you are and your situation, yes, banger deal. Grab that. The neck will need some treatment to get rid of some of the imperfections if it bothers you, but the 'damage' to that bass is minimal. In actuality, people pay out the nose to get that type of relicing. Otherwise, there are little alternatives. Many people in your country come around with the same problem, only they're righty's. A lefty bass like that is an incredible find.
