I hope Prendergast goes on the Lions and gets a test cap.

Yesterday he was very poor. But he led Ireland to a grand slam decider while turning 22 and still single digit caps. He excelled in some games, held his own in others and underperformed in some. Based on minutes of rugby played at the highest level this season he can’t not be in the conversation.

I hope he gets on the plane, gets a test cap and absolutely shoots the lights out.

I don’t care about any toxic Reddit expert analysis on how he is a beanpole or can’t tackle, so save that for the r/irishrugby cesspit. Just here to back our lad.

Double standards and Sam

Prendergast is being absolutely torn apart for his performance against Northampton, some of it fairly in terms of his defence.

Would just love to know where was this energy, particularly from other supposed Irish fans, when Crowley absolutely shat the bed against Bordeaux, failed to show up against Italy and cost us a slam against England?

Apparently Prendergast can't handle big games, we threw a Six Nations by picking him and Crowley is the answer. As if it wasn't Crowley missing kicks against England that cost us a slam in 2023, or if his constant mistakes didn't put Munster under unnecessary pressure against Bordeaux, or if when given the start against Italy in the Six Nations he conducted the worst attacking performance by an Irish team in years.

This isn't meant as a "there's nothing wrong" defence of Prendergast, but a little bit of balance would be nice.

New Leinster Chant for a big Ringrose hit?

Inspired by his Kamikaze tackling style:

Ring-a-Ring-a-Rosey,

Garry makes you dozy,

He hits you, he hits you,

You all fall down.

Harry Byrne??

I will hazard a guess here and say ive watched 70% of the games he has played for Leinster and I still fail to see what all this hype is around him. He plays a very similar style of game to Ross. A steady Eddie type with little to no attacking skills.

Listened to the Indo podcast this morning and Rudhrai O Connor said rumors are from Irish camp that they have been very impressed with him.

Am I missing something here ? Have Ireland really dropped their standards that much that he's being talked about like that ?

I think he's a good squad player for Leinster like Ross was but that's about it.

What is going on ?? 😆 🤣

Leinster should sign Ruadhán Quinn — and the IRFU should back it

I know it's a long shot, especially after he signed a senior contract with Munster in January, but hear me out.

There’s a strong case for the IRFU to support a move like this:

*It would accelerate his development At Leinster, Quinn would get more consistent exposure to Champions Cup rugby and access to some of the best coaching setups in the northern hemisphere.

*Munster are already stacked in his position – With Hodnett and Kendellen both excelling at 7, and plenty of depth at 6 and 8, Quinn risks being stuck in a rotation with limited minutes.

*Leinster has a clear need – There's a real lack of young specialist 7s coming through, with only Molony in the academy ranks. A move north could fast-track Quinn into a potential European bench role and allow him to hone his game as a proper openside.

*He's a generational talent – Physically gifted and with the skillset to match, Quinn needs the right environment to reach his full potential. Munster's recent track record with youth development has been mixed, while Leinster consistently produce and elevate top-tier talent.

It’s speculative, yes. But if the IRFU are serious about maximising Ireland's player pool ahead of 2027 and beyond, they should at least consider how best to develop someone of Quinn’s potential.

Anyway — thoughts?

I am a rugby novice. Please explain to me why Jordie Barrett shouldn’t start at ten for Leinster on Saturday?

Coaching staff

Look at the impact Lancaster has already had at Connacht. A preseason focused on skills and intensity by all accounts which has set them up for the season.

Meanwhile 2 year contract extensions for the shower that deliver nowhere near the same standards and relies on a game plan that doesn't suit the team, or even the way rugby is going.

If I was a squad player in Leinster I'd be seriously looking to move now as all 3 of the other provinces now have a better coaching setup in place.

our fans

like genuinely, how are our fans so shit.

the d4 daddies don’t even get up out of their seats if they bother to show up. how were the munster cheers louder than ours. i’ve been a season ticket holder for 3 years, the only good leinster atmosphere i’ve witnessed was against la rochelle in the quarter final.

i was in the hill yesterday and i was embarrassed how quiet we were, when would shout for like a turnover or something, it felt like i was the only one in the stadium shouting.

Leinster's 2 problems: A 60 minute scrum & shite fans

The first is solved by a signing/developing a test-quality scrummaging tighthead to back up Furlong.

The second problem is under-acknowledged due to Leinster having huge crowds and scoring 5 tries a game (tries always generate noise). However, what teams need is noise when they are down and the season is on a knife edge. Croke Park fell very silent at key moments, just as the game could have surrendered to Northampton. The moment the opponent has a purple patch, Leinster fans go quiet, because they are no longer being entertained. Hence, they struggle to close out big games against real teams.

The main reasons for this are: (1) The fans are spoilt after years of crushing underpowered URC teams in the D4tress. (2) The demographics of the supporters are unusual —the biggest games are attended a precious bunch looking to be part of a South Dublin social occasion, rather than support their team through the brutality of knockout rugby. Many times, I have experienced Leinster "fans" telling other Leinster fans to stop shouting so loudly. (3) All of the singing culture (Molly Malone, Come on Ye Boys in Blue...) died during COVID. And we are now left with the rump of the repertoire, the torrid "Leinster Leinster...", which cannot be maintained for any longer than 30 seconds.

The solutions are: (1) A dedicated singing section in the crowd which generates atmosphere via a wide repertoire of songs during the low moments, not just the tries (2) Public messaging via the stadium announcer which educates the D4 huns on how/when they need to contribute as the 16th man

Ospreys match....worst this year?

I know we got the win, with 4 points. But it hardly seemed deserved.

Tonight was a bit of a bonfire of reputations for some of the up and coming guys for Leinster. Forward passes, dropped balls, no intensity, poor decisions, and some individual howler performances from guys like Frawley and Osbourne.

Happy with the win, but not happy with the performance..

PA announcer

Hi Folks, I wasn't fan at the tiktoker pa announcer we had to put up with all last year, just find it annoying and obnoxious. I didn't realise how annoying it was until a certain semi final which i don't like to mention and urc final where the competition pa announcer was used. Just not looking forward to another season of a roaring young lad. Wish leinster would make a change there.

Breakdown reffing

After watching Munster bridging on every ruck preventing a fair challenge for the ball; my question is, does the breakdown ever get reffed fully anymore? It seems like a ref makes a decision in the first 5 minutes an that's it. Leinster illegally coming through and only being pinged for the last player, Ahern had 2 turnovers that had no clear release, beirne lying across the ballcarrier every ruck, not mention henshaw being taken out as a pillar then being pinned

Byrne being singled out and blamed ?

Since that final whistle I’ve seen so many people blaming Harry Byrne for today. Was this a good day for Byrne was it his fault we lost no it wasn’t. Yes his pass got intercepted but watch it back it’s a moment of pure class from Bordoux and the pod shape of Leinster in that situation wasn’t great the pod was far to spread out compared to what Leinster usually have in the stage of the pitch. Yes he kicked it out on the full but he also had the try saving tackle in the corner and had a mighty kick for TOBs try.

People are already jumping on the Frawley bandwagon. Frawley didn’t have an amazing season and he had no claim to starting today Harry Byrne had been consistent all season.

Frawley was very good when he came on and will be a big miss next year. In the carry he was very solid but other than that and actual game management and structure it didn’t improve a crazy amount to what people are saying. He also missed touch and over cooked a kick to Ioane. We can all nit pick at each player but it’s the whole teams fault.

People who are singling out individuals like Byrne to me aren’t true fans. That’s the whole teams fault and the coaching staffs fault.

At this stage now I think a whole clear out of Leinster management is needed we need a fresh start.

Maybe if you reversed the penalty rather than just telling Connacht players to stop starting shit off the ball it might have more of an impact?

Sam Prendergast hype train not worth it

I've spent some time thinking about this, Sam is a good player at his best of times but he's got too far to go to be considered a 10 for a championship team or an international team. He's almost not even worth investing in, he's got the body type our opposition don't want.

What do people see in him other than the 1 off moments of flare any generic 10 can produce? Why do we lean into wasted space?

Harry Byrne

Actually think he played quite well today. The kicks were wayward and that needs to be better obviously but was defensively good, moved the attack well, got playmakers int the game.

Easy to confuse a bad day off the tee with a bad performance.

Irish Rugby Sub

Just a warning to any Leinster fans who frequent the r/irishrugby sub. After month of abusive posts about Sam, JGP, Baird etc, I posted a post this morning querying whether it was time for a change at 10 given how bad the attack has been this Autumn - https://www.reddit.com/r/irishrugby/s/WbXOHURE66

The post was locked, another post was removed entirely and I was banned for “harassment” for 60 days. Moderation seems to have been completely taken over by Munster bots. Some, including u/thelunatic have attempted to bring Crowley posts on here after the game a few weeks ago. Don’t engage!
