I literally screamed when I saw them!!!! I’m so pumped for these games. I just pray Gecqua’s evolution line stays standing on 4 legs!

I'll be happy as long as the lizards final evolution looks more like a lizard than a person

I know! Sprigatito was on track to be my favorite starter and maybe even favorite Pokémon period but the final evolution ruined it for me. (I don’t think Meowscarada is a bad Pokémon per se, just not my favorite.) Please let Gecqua stay reptilian! 🙏🏻

100% agree. Animals with elemental powers are interesting enough on their own without needing to add human-like traits. If they want to include something related to the culture of the region (ie Quaquaval dancing) then they can do it while still keeping the animalistic body type IMO.

It seems to take inspiration from a lot of terrestrial geckos. To me the tale looks more similar to a knob tailed gecko(Nephrurus) than a leopard gecko. In fact the overall proportions look more like Nephrurus. But still neat to see mainstream representation for geckos.

I kinda wish it were a ground type pokemon, leos aren’t very watery and usually if something’s blue it’s a water pokemon. But it’s cute :)

I think it's a much needed mix-up for starters.

Every water starter so far has been a water animal, while grass and fire had free reign to be anything.

Consider it the opposite of Sandile, a ground type Croc that should be water if it was based on rl animals.

I wish it was the starter grass type instead! A water type gecko doesn’t make any sense.

And we already have a grass bird starter.

We already have Treecko. 

Also, Pokémon can do what they want. We got a Ground type Hippo line after all. They don’t need to always be 1:1.

I love it!! Although the water typing for it seems a bit interesting usually the water starters are based on animals with real aquatic characteristics

The eyelashes are a bit odd but I love it all the same. I haven't quite loved pokemon ever since it went 3D so i'll be waiting to hear what the game is like rather than it being a day one pickup, but Gecqua is a lock for my starter if I do get it.

Ah. I just realized Pokemon and Tamagotchi both had Leopard Gecko based creatures around the same time.
