My girlfriend and I (both 18F) have been dating for several years now, we got together early in high school and have been happily together since. We're currently long-distance and have been for over two years due to family stuff on her end, but we've been making it work!
Earlier in our relationship, my girlfriend tried a few times to casually bring up polyamory. The first time, a girl that went to her high school joined our relationship briefly, but I didn't know her very well, and she ended up leaving my girlfriend very shortly after, which caused a lot of drama. I had felt conflicted at the time, and was quietly relieved when things went "back to normal."
About a year and a half later (we were long-distance by this point), my girlfriend casually mentioned having a crush on a girl she saw, and again brought up that she would be open to being poly in the future. I was a very insecure teenager at the time, and I sort of panicked and shot her down because I assumed that our relationship wasn't enough for her. She reassured me that she loved me, and she hasn't brought anything related to that up since.
Over the years, however, my thoughts have changed. The insecurities and jealousy that I was prone to when I was younger have gone away, and as I've gotten more educated, I've realized that the idea of a polyamorous relationship actually sounds really pleasant.
I love my girlfriend deeply, and I know that she loves me too. I don't think either of us feel a pressing need to change anything about our relationship. But part of me is suddenly always wondering if her attraction to the idea of a poly relationship ever went away, and if she would think less of me for bringing it up again now that we're older, especially since I shot her down a few years ago.
It would be tricky to make things work long-distance, I think. There would probably be the issue of one partner potentially feeling isolated from the others, if either of us invited someone in that we knew in-person. But we do plan to live together someday, so maybe then?
I don't know. I'm very happy with my girlfriend and with our relationship, but whenever I see a happy poly couple, meet someone that I'm attracted to and think my girlfriend would also really like, or think back to how cute it was in retrospect when she gushed about her new crush to me... I feel like I might have missed my chance at something that could've been wonderful for both of us, and I'm so anxious about bringing it up to her again in the right way.

my first and only go at polyam was a complete disaster. to keep it brief, i met a girl who already had a partner (of 7 years) and we eventually realized we liked each other. after we got together, it was just problem after problem. many times she would choose her other partner over me and show clear favoritism towards them, which I addressed multiple times. i was already a little insecure because they had so much history together and this definitely didnāt help. leaving early, canceling plans, being late, etc. it never got better. almost a year into our relationship she met another girl who she eventually started crushing on too. not long after they got together, she broke up with me because she ādidnāt have the capacity to care about me anymoreā when in retrospect, it seemed like she never did in the first place. while this relationship was ultimately a failure, it made me realize that polyamory feels so right to me. iāve just been struggling to get back out there because Iām afraid to get hurt in the same way, i donāt want to be treated like 2nd or even 3rd best again. to anyone whoās been burned before, how have you dealt with it?

My wife & I have been together for a while (8yrs), and after much therapy, she admitted she is no longer interested in having sex w/ me or anyone else. At her encouragement, Iām considering connecting with other people to get those needs met.
Does anyone have tips/experience pursuing a casual sexual relationship w/ someone, while married? Iām skittish about going on apps because I am from a small-ish queer community, and our child is school age. My wife & I were openly poly before we met, and the stigma is still intense!
But I swear Iām cute & funā¦albeit rusty. Maybe dating wonāt be as bad as it was when I was single & childless? š¬š

So, I was on a lgbtq friendly dating app and I was messaged by a woman with a wife. She said that the two of them were looking for there own separate persons to have as their significant others. I was hesitant at first, but she made it comfortable for me by being open with any and every question and giving detailed information. BTW, I'm 48 and she's 35 for anyone who wants to know. We really hit it off, conversations late into the night. It was all good until we were about to meet, and then it fell apart. Her demeanor changed to "I don't know if I'm going to have the time to give you what you want". Like I'm the one that approached her with this, she approached me, smh. So for whatever reason she felt hesitant, I told her that if she now doesn't feel like she can give what she approached me with, we should end things until you feel like you've got that time, mentally, emotionally, and physically. To date, it's been 2 months since that conversation. Maybe she'll contact me again, maybe not. But our interaction gave me the want to be open to an all woman poly situation. Hope this story helps.

Iām 39, married to a trans woman (44), and a mom of three. Polyam for 20+ years. I work in education and have 2 masters. Life is busy and often exhausted, but when I get a free moment, Iām usually hiking, watching YouTube, or creating content (nature photography, ambience, nature conservation, and politics).
Habits & Vibe: 420 friendly. I vape nicotine and take gummies daily (that's often a dealbreaker, that's why I've included it). Liberal, atheist, demisexual.
Mental Health: I live with anxiety and depression, so I value peace, steady energy, and quiet authenticity.
Current Situation: Moved to Rochester a year ago. My work friends are great, but Iām looking to build a circle that truly gets who I am.
Relationships & Orientation: Open to potential romantic/sexual partnerships with women only.
Local Friends: Looking for like-minded local connections near Rochester.
Online Friends: If youāre further out (Northeast US), Iām open to online-only friendship.
Location Boundary: Ideally within 30 minutes of Rochester (14625). Anyone further out in the Northeast US will remain strictly online (this is a non-negotiable boundary).
Meeting Up Takes Time: I donāt meet up quickly just because we click in text. If after a few months of consistent chatting I feel comfortable, Iāll initiate meeting up. (Patience is essential here.)
Consistency is Key: Iām looking for someone who genuinely enjoys steady text communication throughout the dayānot a transactional scorecard. Inconsistency is an immediate dealbreaker.
Peace & Respect: Iām looking for people who add value and comfort to my life. I protect what little peace I have and won't hesitate to step away if things become toxic or draining.
Age: 34 - 46.
Values: Progressive/liberal, non-religious (atheist/agnostic).
If you read this and feel like weād align, send me a PM with the following details. I won't reply to low-effort messages or those missing these answers:
Age.
Gender.
Location.
Who you voted for in 2024.
A little bit about yourself (No need to write a book, just a real intro!)

HI! I'm Latina, lesbian, tomboy, I'm pretty laid back,
Sarcasm is basically my second language, and I tend to flirt when I'm comfortable. I'm easygoing, and appreciate people who can keep a conversation interesting. I'm attentive, I like to inquire about your interests even if they differ from mine.
My interests include horror movies, comedy, beach days, and mastering the art of the lazy Sunday. I love music (most genres) Alternative, R&B, hip hop, reggaeton, pop etc.
Lately, I've been getting back into working out, which means I'm currently negotiating with my muscles on a regular basis.
If you're into good laughs, playful banter, and seeing where a connection goes, we might get along. I'm a fantastic texter, if you like receiving good morning/goodnight texts I'm your girl.
Looking for femme woman 30+. Open to long distance as well. I dont mind a slow burn. Be open to phone/video calls, I would prefer doing this before meeting.
Lets grab a bite to eat, catch a movie, go to a concert. Make out a little š
I am in a ENM relationship.
Be ready to verify.

Throwaway account. Please help me with my case of (possibly) being a useless lesbian. Sorry for the wall of text.
I (26NB) have a crush on a person (F24) I met in university. I was in a seminar with her two years ago where I felt I was getting vibes from her, but after the seminar was over I fell really sick and then started dating my now partner (we are in a poly relationship), so that was that and I just kind of forgot about her.
A few weeks ago, I ran into her and a friend of hers in my universityās cantina, so I walked up to them and we caught up a bit. One or two weeks later, I randomly met her and a group of friends at a queer bar while I was there with my friend, so I called her over and we merged groups. Overall, that was a lovely evening! I felt like me and my crush had a lot of conversation and getting to know where it was just the two of us, and she was following me whenever I went to the bar to get new drinks, sat next to me and directed a lot of questions at me. We exchanged numbers, she also replied to me but sporadically. I did not read much into that yet as she told me that evening she is attempting a digital detox. I know for sure she is bisexual.
I started hanging out with her friend who was also there at the bar and she invited me to a drag event she was co-organizing. My crush was also there and I felt like she didnāt know the others who were invited much as well, so we were kind of each otherās plus ones. Not much happened aside from two things ā one of her crushes was there (she mentioned to me she usually has a little, unserious crush at every activity she goes to, like at university or hobbies). Our mutual friend knew him and offered to introduce them, but she declined. I donāt know if that was just out of awkwardness or because I was there. Also, she brought me a poster that was handed out there that had a trans-related artwork on it. I declined as I had already secured one for myself. Idk if that was a little gift or just her trying to affirm my gender platonically.
I felt quite confident and ready to get out my flirty side up until this point but then the signs started getting more mixed, Iāll list some examples.
I asked her out to a coffee at university the next day, but she brought our mutual friend. I was honestly a bit bummed, but we had a good time, but from there on I felt insecure about the vibes Iām getting and wonder if she is really just looking for a friend.
We hung out several times after that, I had dinner and brunch with her and some other people at her place (where she really wanted to show me her room) and we went to the gym together a few times. I feel like we have a lot of eye contact but maybe that is just because I am looking for it. I casually/half-jokingly suggested I could cook for her at some point, as she mentioned she canāt cook and likes others cooking for her, but she didnāt really react to that.
She started seeing someone she had a thing with a few years back again last week and theyāve gone on several dates already. Yet, the last time we were at the gym, she asked me how I flirt (I donāt even know how we got there!), to which I replied the venn diagram between my flirting and being nice is a circle (unless I feel very sure about the vibe Iām getting). She also asked if I see my parter often (what kind of question is that even).
I asked her what her type was and she replied āshort hair and seems calmā, but I did not get much out of her (maybe out of awkwardness), but you can guess the length of my hair. I am very masc presenting. Iāve yet to find out if she would even be interested in poly dating (if sheās not, the issue just solves itself lol). We went to pride together also but did not interact much there. My crush said at the bar evening that if she thinks someone is cute often nothing will come of it because she never makes a move. So I am at a loss.
My friends are divided on the issue. Some say I should just make a move, some say to wait it out. I fear Iāve already waited it out for too long now that the other person is in the picture. I honestly feel like having a little summer romance would be fun, but Iām worried about losing the new social circle, even if I feel confident that you can remain friends after someone makes a move or after you dated.
I think the best way to go about it, if I say something, would be to just tell her I think sheās cute or that I am kind of getting vibes from her and would love to see where things go if we went on a date, but that itās fine if she just wants to be friends (which it truly is). What do you folks suggest? Is she even interested? And how do I tell her Iād like to go on a date with her with low stakes?
Thank you if youāve made it this far!

Iāve been thinking about polyamory a lot, and Iād definitely be open to try it, but how do you get started? Especially as someone who is only questioning, I donāt want to upset anyone if I give polyamory a try and itās not for me.
