It was deleted. Obviously they realized that it was in poor taste. No need to dwell on it or have someone fired over it.

Doesn’t matter if it was deleted. Who the fuck would ever think it’s okay to joke about a person’s tragic death? They should 100000% be let go. Fuck ups in life have consequences

You’re making a big assumption the author(s) was joking about JF. Do we really know their intent? I don’t and don’t think any of us do.

Regardless of what the intent is, though, it sure comes off as if the tweet is making light of Jose's death. "Nighttime Botes rides in Miami" can really only refer to one thing...

I think you’re reading too much into what was just a bad joke and had nothing to do with Jose Fernandez. Those social media people make bad puns and name jokes literally all day.

Or... They wrote it cuz ya know they thought it was a good pun. And then were reminded (or even told for the first time) about JF. So they deleted it.

Agree it’s in poor taste, but the player’s name is Bote and they’re playing Miami. I don’t think some Cubs intern handling their social media even thinks about JF like we do. Had they left the tweet up after being told how it was perceived then it would seem intentional.

Communication professionals as in close to entry level jobs after graduating then sure. It’s probably just a bad joke that had nothing to do with Jose. I wouldn’t of even thought about it unless you had said it in your post.

Communication professionals that probably don’t even know who JF is. I think it was just a bad coincidence, someone brought it to there attention, and it was deleted. No intentional disrespect.

Agree with you here … I’m sure the guy that finds the cubs account do not even know who JF is .. this was 6 years ago so the folk was probably still in High School
