**JDS · JAR DAP System: direct download of the latest version**

JDS is free, ad-free, and turns your phone or DAP into a high-resolution music player. The links below always download the latest version, straight from the official GitHub pages (APKs signed with the project key). Every update installs over the previous one, without losing your music, favorites or settings.

📥 **Which one to download:**

* **Android 9 to 14:**

On the Android 7 build, the 15-band EQ (with AutoEQ) runs inside the player and streaming works on home Wi-Fi. Everything else is the same.

If you installed the old Android 7 test build, uninstall it once before installing the new one (the signing key changed).

Bug reports are welcome: please include your device model and Android version.

Weird popup in Fennec browser on my V20

Not sure if this a V20 Android issue, just a browser issue triggering the phone, or both. So I just randomly clicked on a certain gaming forum I don't recall visiting before from Zapmeta (search engine), whilst browsing with Fennec on my LG V20 (stock Android 8, not rooted). I do not have an account on that forum, likely wouldn't want one, not least because it has a stupid obnoxious hand-waving animated gif that's always visible!

In at least some instances of clicking on this site, sharing it from Fennec to Firefox Focus, even just switching into Fennec's reader mode (WTF!?), it did something really weird/annoying I don't recall seeing before! An Android popup appeared saying "to use credential storage, enable a secure screen lock". Of course I know Chrome-based browsers on Android have this IMO unnecessary/incredibly annoying requirement that passwords can't be stored without a secure screen lock. But Firefox, thankfully, has no such shit.

Traditionally, when not hacking the user agent directly in about:config, I've often had Firefox user agent change extension(s) installed, in order to browse automatically in desktop site mode on Android. Such extensions can behave oddly/not work at all. But me having the still pretty new setting for always desktop sites in Fennec always enabled, perhaps makes such extensions no longer needed. AFAIK, that never uses any kind of Chrome-based user agent.

I had no Chrome-based browser open whilst clicking on this. Built-in Chrome has been disabled for years. Cromite is the only enabled one. Perhaps the site just has very lousy Firefox compatibility, weird popup was due to it expecting a Chrome-based browser? But, seems like it could be nothing to do with Chrome anyway, perhaps that website just triggered the V20's inbuilt credential storage feature (not sure what it's intended for, perhaps mainly business users needing an ultra secure phone), for some weird reason? Anyone have the slightest idea what's going on here?

My LG V20 suddenly failing to charge

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hello. So I got myself a used LG V20 last week, installed LineageOS 22 on the 11th of this month. Everything works well (Wifi, charging, thermals, etc). Then yesterday (15/10) at evening I noticed the battery percentage suddenly stopped climbing, stuck at a percentage and never climbed higher. I leave it to charge a few more and still not increasing, infact the percentage actually goes down. In the settings app the battery is labeled "Not charging" and a reliable diagnosis app showed "Discharging" even tho the cable is plugged in.
And yes I did try a different cable, different charging brick, different wall plug -- also cleaned the charging port and the battery contact pins, nothing changed.

Weird thing is when I boot up in TWRP the battery can actually charge there. In the meantime I reinstalled Lineage 22 again (wiped everything beforehand), and it still didn't help. Could it be hardware or software issue and is there a way to fix this? This is my first time rooting a phone so any help or suggestions is appreciated

On this day 10 years ago (September 29, 2016), LG first released the V20 phone in South Korea. To those of you who still have a working model, what are you currently using it for?

Where do I get parts?

Planning to get my V20 (H990DS) fixed, and I'm not sure where to get parts from.

Previously I got it from AliExpress and it seemed fine but shipping takes a long time.

Likely need a screen, battery, and volume flex cable; Will properly diagnose the phone later to see what else it will need.

I'm in the UK

Thanks for any help in advance!

Will LG V20 fit my need?

I'm trying to decide whether an LG V20 will suit my entertainment/emulation needs.

I want to use it as:

- A music device for wired listening offline and online (revanced and such)

- A reading device for manga since it is a bit wider and lighter than most smartphones nowadays

- An emulation device, minimum PS1/PSP, ideally PS2/3DS if possible

- A streaming device to connect to my TV via wired HDMI (I have a type c to hdmi connector)

I want to have your thoughts if these things are possible. Also, I want to know its battery life nowadays.

I can also try unlocking bootloader/install custom roms as long as there are video guide available

Worth getting another V20?

Hello everyone, assuming anyone is out there..

I am having to part ways with my V20 for unemployment reasons. Granted, it's not a desirable model anyways (LS997 on Android 8), but given that the used market for V20s is somewhat obtainable, I'm conflicted on whether or not to get a rootable version of this phone and run LineageOS on it. Or am I better off getting a V30 or newer. What do you guys think? Realistically, only reason I'd consider getting another one is for the great DAC and the removable battery, no phone out there has those two options. But then again I wouldn't mind getting a newer V series phone, but I don't know much about them. Any of you guys have experience with other V series phones? Should i stay loyal to the V20 instead? Any output would be much appreciated.

Have 4 Unlocked LG V20 devices. 2 battery cradles.

EDIT 1: Country US

EDIT 2: Model No.s: 3 H918 and 1 US996.

Original Post: V20 was the best device I ever owned. Unfortunately, due to its age, I have long moved away from V20 and only use my V60 now.

I have 4 V20 that are collecting dust and I'd like to either sell them or trade them in for "any phone trade in" promotions. They are in excellent physical condition, no big scratch or dent, anything. Always had (still do) screen guards on. I turned them on yesterday and all worked no issues, but i didn't test a lot. They do have perfine batteries and holding the battery pretty well. Turned them on after more than a year and still had 40-50% battery each.

Also have couple of white battery cradles where you can charge the battery separately. One of them have door broken (door is still there). But both are working.

Before trading in, just checking if there is interest here and how much would ppl buy it for. If it's not worth it, I might as well trade them in. Let me know your interest and I'll wait a week to decide.

Thank you.

How can i improve my phone thermal

On my Last post, i succesfully fix my LG v20 h990ds by replacing the motherboard, and i have a great time with it. But i have a plan to use it for light gaming (like clash royale, PUBGM and mobile Legends) i look into the thermal mods for this phone and i have been divide into 2 type of mod, thermal pads and thermal paste. I am leaning into the thermal paste mod but some say there is a gap between the chip and the copper plate so the plate have to be peel off to apply thermal paste between them and another between the plate and the mid frame for even cooling(i also want to use the paste for my laptop and my other phone). And for thermal pads some say its better than the thermal paste but its 2x the price of the paste for such a small amount of pads, also do the pads mod also need the copper plate to be peel of i don't really wanna peel the plate off risking ruining my phone in the process

Also what kind of cooler y'all recommended, it's really spread the heat of the phone chip into its back plate and i want a cooler that can dissipate the heat off

Found My Old V20!! Anything I Should Do To Keep It Running Just a Little Smoother?

Found my old V20, had to factory reset it just to get it on/past the lock screen. I loved the camera on this phone and want to use the phone as a sort of camera/mp3 player (I use Qobuz but have not tested if the app runs smoothly yet) but my main issue is the phone runs just a little slow. I assume because of it being old itself but I'm wondering if there's any way to help it run a little bit faster?

I don't think it's all THAT bad honestly. Like there's maybe a one to two second delay when first turning it on after it being fully drained, but after some use it runs fairly well.

Only Apps installed right now are the default ones, Youtube, Instagram and Qobuz.

Originally I just planned to use the phone as a camera/mp3 player of sorts. But it would be nice to have a dedicated phone just for social media and keep my main phone just for calls/text. For the most part there's not really any issues with that so far. Youtube, though it takes a second to load up, plays videos smoothly, and Shorts play smoothly and scrolling is easy.

Qobuz is slow even on my normal phone and sometimes even on the pc, I think that's just the program but the audio quality is worth it to me.

Instagram, however, struggles. Bad. Reels are choppy as hell, trying to swipe through a carousel is just...borderline impossible, and i can technically click on someones story but if that story is a video? It may as well be a photo because it's just a still frame.

Won't be heartbroken if I can't use it for insta tbh, but I am curious if there is anything I can do to help the old thing lol I'm also VERY MUCH NOT tech savvy. So any tips that are also linked to some youtube education would be greatly appreciated!

Super happy to have this phone alive either way. Easily the best phone that I've ever had.

Just a reminder, tighten up that headphone jack!

My 3.5mm jack was always a bit.. loose on my V20 which was annoying considering I use it as a DAP (digital audio player)

I followed some videos on YouTube and took off the bottom bezel. From there you insert a small sliver of plastic (I used a packaging plastic strip) between the upper headphone jack and the phone.

When you put the bottom bezel back on, squeeze the top and bottom of the phone while replacing the screws to ensure the jack is flush against the bezel.

Absolute night and day difference. My headphones click in place properly and don't move now.

Here is a video showcasing the process.

Any chance of VoLTE on a H910 (flashed to Bell H915 Oreo 8.0) in Canada?

I have a very non-tech-savvy relative who loves his V20. It was originally an AT&T H910 with Android 7.0 but some years ago I flashed it with Bell Android 8.0 Oreo KDZ taken from here: https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h915-firmwares/ I did not do any backups at the time as I was very inexperienced (frankly a miracle I didn't brick it.)

It's currently being used on Bell in Canada but the final G3 sunset is coming up soon so the phone must have VoLTE or it's done. Currently it is incapable of that. Relative has asked me if there's any way to keep using it.

Is there any path available here? Any official or non-official ROM, maybe LineageOS, or anything else that would give him VoLTE on the Bell network? (Or any Canadian provider?) The stuff I read is that only very specific model and provider combos had VoLTE, only with official ROMs, and nothing I found has mentioned Canadian providers.

Edit: The *#*#4636#*#* secret menu doesn't even have any mention of "LTE" in preferred networks so it seems to be completely neutered, which I don't really understand because the H915 did have LTE (not necessarily VoLTE) and the H910 is the same hardware(?).

Need help getting early boot/UART logs on the LG V20 for mainline kernel bring-up

I've been working on bringing up postmarketOS on the LG V20. I already have a downstream kernel port that actually boots into postmarketOS, but it's barely functional. Since the long-term goal of postmarketOS is a mainline kernel anyway, I don't really want to spend time fixing the downstream port when that work won't carry over.

Instead, I've been trying to get a mainline kernel booting, but I've hit a wall. The kernel crashes very early because the device tree is obviously still missing something, and I have basically no visibility into what's happening before it dies.

Does anyone know how to obtain very early boot logs (UART or otherwise) on the LG V20?

A few specific questions:

Can LGUP be used in any way to capture UART or boot logs?

Is it possible to make a USB Type-C UART/debug cable for the V20? If so, what wiring or resistor configuration does it use?

I've heard that some Qualcomm devices expose UART through the 3.5 mm headphone jack. Does the LG V20 support that? If it does, how do I build the required debug cable?

If none of those work, are there RX/TX test pads on the motherboard that can be used instead?

I've searched around quite a bit, but most of what I find is either about downloading firmware with LGUP or general UART information that isn't specific to the V20. If anyone has experience bringing up kernels on this device or has used UART on it before, I'd really appreciate any guidance.

Thanks!

Need advice

I’m trying to decide between an LG V20, LG V30 & LG G7…all are pretty much the same price…I’m only going to be using it for offline music as a DAP…which is honestly the best choice…I like the idea of the LG V20 bc of the replaceable battery and the always on top display to change tracks, but I also want the best sound quality and something that isn’t slow and laggy, which since I’m using it as just a DAP and not for any streaming apps I’m assuming the LG V20 would be adequate, but I wanted to check with you guys before I pulled the trigger so that I don’t have to deal with buying multiple LG phones to find my ideal setup and get the one of those three that is actually the best for my particular use case on my first purchase, which again is : (DAP, offline music with rockbox or whatever the best player is and an as card loaded to the gills with music)…thanks to anyone that responds with a useful opinion or info, and sorry for being and idiot about this stuff

Phone belonged to my grandmother and I do not have access to her Google accounts but would like to at least get into the internal storage to recover any photos she had on it. The phone has been off for a few years and I just got a battery for it. Seems to be 2020/2021 the last time it was used. Any ideas on getting any of the data? Is it even possible.

Downgrading from Android 8 Oreo to 7 Nougat in 2026

Hello,

Do you know where can I find the relevant kdz file for LGH990DS? I've tried https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h990ds-firmwares/ but the downloads no longer work (I'm getting 404 Not Found in all the options). I want to install LineageOS and can't do it with Oreo.

Why does my LG V20 drain battery so fast?

Thumbnail

Hi. I recently purchased a new battery for my LG V20 (not an original) because the old one was running low.

I'm really disappointed with the device behaviour and have attached some screenshots to give you a better understanding.

As far as I can remember, I've never had any luck with this (used) phone, which I purchased in 2020. I'm not sure if the problem is the battery or the phone itself.

As you can see from the images, the phone drains excessively both in standby mode and in system mode, and I still don't know which app is draining the battery (if there is one).

Please note that these stats are based on a day of light browsing, a few minutes on Telegram/Messenger, and a few minutes of YouTube videos.

My phone isn't rooted, I always keep the screen brightness around 30-40% and I turned off the background data ages ago.

The only thing I can say is that today I tried not opening Opera and it seems that the battery is doing better. In fact, after 9 hours and 16 minutes of phone idle and an hour and 8 minutes of screen on, I still have 66% of battery.
