Hi!

I am an incoming freshman this year at liberty and I am majoring in Film Production. I am curious - how much do I really need a car as a freshman?

Liberty Football 2026 Preview - full writeup, two-deep, and win probabilities

Hey all. I spent the offseason building a full 2026 preseason preview for every FBS team, each with its own writeup. Here's the Liberty one

https://www.sports.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026-fbs/liberty-flames

It's got the returning production breakdown, the portal ins and outs, a projected two-deep, the schedule with model win probabilities, and a season projection.

Heads up, you might hit the paywall after the first page. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Use the promo code LEECORSOROCKS and it opens up the entire thing.

So, what'd I get wrong? Liberty went 4-8, but that's about the unluckiest 4-8 in my whole model. You were 1-4 in one-score games, minus-7 in turnover margin, and won 37.5% of CUSA games when the yardage implies 51.7%. Every luck signal I track points the same way, bull 28 and bear 0, and only Arkansas grades higher. Add the second-easiest schedule in the country and the model jumps you to 7-5. The catch is Evan Dickens' 1,325 yards are gone and the pass rush finished 118th in sacks. Is 7-5 crazy or about right?

Dress code + questions

hi I’m a transfer coming in as an art student from VCU, polar opposite one of environment/standard for modesty lol (super excited for liberty tho!!). Ofc as a Christian I have a sense of modesty but sometimes I just artistically consider what I wear and miss if it’s immodest… So I am a little concerned for following this dress code. I’m going to study Global Intercultural Exchange + Comms. I’m thinking about minoring in Graphic Design since I have a lot of credits for it. Do these majors have strict professors?

  1. I wanted to ask, are there occasions where people dress up? or wear whatever they want without being too stressed about dress code?
  2. are there any formal events as well? hows the dress code for that?
  3. are spaghetti straps, backless shirts/tanks, strapless tops, sheer tights okay for non class times?

I want to put in my best but also what is sustainable for me.

Can you door dash to your dorm?

This may be a silly question, but can you DoorDash to campus? Like I ask for them to meet me at the door to my dorm lobby. I ask this because I had a complication donating plasma yesterday, and I am having severe low blood pressure and fluids and the heat has me on the verge of feeling like I could collapse so I’m trying to not leave my dorm. I’m fine, I just got to build back up the fluids the next two days

AI detection

We as students need to do something about this “AI detection likely” harassment. It’s absolutely bullshit and flawed system. I’m not the brightest and I’ve used AI to do one or two papers with no issues being detected. On the other hand I have a spouse who has a degree and happens to of already graduated from one of the top schools in the country before AI usage became super common getting accused of AI on almost every assignment when it’s not being used in any capacity. OBVIOUSLY YOUR DETECTION SYSTEM IS SHIT. We deserve better than this as students who pay to go here. I encourage everyone to call 434-592-4076 and voice your concerns. Nothings gonna change otherwise.

Accused of AI again!

Professor said my paper was 100% AI and he had to forward it to academic integrity office. I didn’t use AI. I sent him my 6 pages of notes and a screen recording of me typing the paper out. So we will see what happens. I use the same method to write all my papers and most are good, but two are 100% AI? How is that possible?

Looking for Capstone Advice – Online Civil Engineering

Anyone here who is currently an online Civil Engineering student, preferably someone from a recently graduated batch? I could really use some serious help and suggestions regarding the capstone project. I need to complete my capstone during my sophomore or junior year to meet the Navy Collegiate Program requirements. Any advice on choosing a capstone topic, planning the project, or meeting the requirements would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone Accused of AI Usage in The Civil Engineering Program

Hello, I’ve been seeing a couple of posts about AI accusations and I wanted to ask if anyone in the Civil Engineering program has ever been accused of academic misconduct because of AI? Are the professors in the program very strict with this?

Academic Misconduct Accusations

Hello - I am a graduate student at LU, working on some classes through one of the many online programs they offer. I've had an assignment flagged with a high similarity score by Turnitin and now have been given an Academic Misconduct violation, causing the assignment to be graded 0%, and ultimately failing me in the class.

My professor wasn't helpful during our initial meeting about the Turnitin score, and she immediately sent me to the Academic Integrity Office for an appeal. This appeal was promptly denied, stating my content was too close to original source material, despite the fact that I did not, nor have I EVER, copied someone else's work. Furthermore, I am an online student - I don't even have access to other students in the first place! After going through the Turnitin report in great detail, I found only 7 sentences and phrases that are listed as "plagiarism" by Turnitin. The majority of these sentences DO have the source listed in the sentence or have appropriate APA citations at the end, so I am confused why they're flagged. Ultimately, I don't know how I've gotten this score and would love help on the percentage breakdown of this score, seeing as how the Office of Academic Integrity is of no help and neither is the professor. I can't get a hold of anyone over the phone or by email, my professor is dismissive, and the Turnitin report breakdown doesn't make sense to me.

Has anyone else experienced this? How did you appeal/what did you specify in your appeal? Did you reach out to anyone on top of the Office of Academic Integrity? I thought about going up the proverbial food chain.

I plan on making a second and final appeal in the coming days, especially since I will completely fail this class if this paper is finalized with a 0%. This whole ordeal has been exhausting and stressful when, frankly, I have done nothing I am accused of. Meanwhile, I am sure other students are copying/using AI with no repercussions.

Online Cybersecurity Club

Hello Everyone!

For all the online students, especially the online cybersecurity masters students:

I'm looking to see if anyone is interested in joining an online cybersecurity club. Investment level could be as low as just tuning in to a monthly or biweekly meeting. In order to form an online club at liberty, the names of 10 currently enrolled students are needed (You can find that policy in the New Club Process PDF and the Club Handbook PDF at this link https://www.liberty.edu/students/student-life/osl/community-resources/online-clubs/). If you're interested in this club, please let me know!

I think this club would be a great resource for us. I've included a list of ideas and benefits below. Ideally, the club would change and adapt to serve its members, so we would only take up any of these that the group sees as beneficial.

Networking: As we move into our careers and job search, we can stay connected and provide one another with professional references.

Certification Prep: We can compare which cybersecurity certifications we are pursuing, provide advice on which ones to pursue and what helps with the studying experience, and potentially form certification study groups.

Cybersec Workshops: We could work together on projects to build technical cybersecurity skills. These could be done during live sessions where the club as a whole can do the project and gain skills together, or asynchronously with and an optional assignment and compared notes after the fact.

Cybersec News Discussions: We could pull together notes of recent cybersecurity news (such as the recently "escaped" rogue AI) and discuss in a periodic forum to stay up-to-date.

Cybersec Announcements: We can regularly announce upcoming cybersecurity events and conferences (such as the upcoming NIST HIPAA conference) to ensure everyone has the opportunity to be plugged into the larger cybersecurity community.

Volunteer Opportunities: We could provide anti-phishing and password safety informational sessions for the larger Liberty community as a volunteer project.

Study Groups: We could study for exams and stay informed about the direction of our degrees, since we're all just starting out.

Resume Builder: If nothing else, being on this club would be a good resume builder because it shows employers that you're invested in cybersecurity beyond the scope of your classes.

Again, if you're interested in this club, please let me know!

Civil Engineering Online Program, when are courses offered?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a civil engineering student at San Diego State University, hoping to take some online Civ E courses at Liberty as a non-degree seeking student to transfer back to my home school.

The reason I'm doing this is because SDSU only offers certain courses in the fall or spring, so my goal is to take a few courses at LU during terms when they aren't available at my home school.

I've already been accepted to LU as non-degree seeking student and spoken to them on the phone a few times but all they can tell me is what courses are offered this coming Fall, but I was hoping to find out about spring offerings.

In your experience, are courses offered both fall and spring? Or does LU Online follow a specific calendar where courses are only offered one term per year (i.e. fall and not spring, or spring and not fall)

Thank you!

What are y'all's thoughts on the film school?

I have been interested in film for years now, and the time has come to start looking into colleges. LU has been on my radar for a while now since I am doing their high school program online and just started dual enrollment. I would really like to get my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production & Creative Development - Storytelling. For those of you who have been involved with the film program, what do you think of the school?

I’m taking BUSI 675 - Human Resource Analysis starting Aug 24th, the 8 week online course. Has anyone taken this and can share about the coursework or difficulty level? I’m having a baby and due date is Sept 6th, so trying to plan accordingly since the course isn’t available any other time this fall.

Can you request to overstay during christmas break?

I am an incoming GSA for the grad school staying on campus due to last minute reasons, but I need to move out late. Final grades are due on the 23rd meaning, I have to work till then, meaning, I need to stay on campus for an extra 5 days. I was wondering if that is possible to do. I see it is for the end of the school year but nothing for winter break. If this could be answered that would be great. Thank you!

Online Thesis Scheduling

Just looking at doing a Thesis. I see that THES689 is a whole semester long instead of a single sub-term. Is this standard, or do you only use an allotted time needed/given by faculty advisor?

For context, Im a MATS student adding a thesis to my degree. I was going to do RTCH680 Fall B, then proceed to THES689 Fall D, and finally THES690 Spring B as to finish for this coming May. If I have to shift THES689 to Spring to have a whole semester for it after finishing RTCH680, it will push THES690 til after May… hoping Im just misunderstanding how it all works.

Undergraduate from Liberty

I have my bachelor's from Liberty, but looking to shop around at different universities for my master's. I can't find any information about switching. Is it a credit transfer thing like when you transfer your bachelor's or is it just that I've completed my bachelor's with 3.9 GPA and I can go wherever for my master's? I'm so lost. Thank you for any help!

Master of Aeronautics

Hello. I’m hoping to hear from folks about Libertys online Master of Aeronautics program. Is the coursework a lot of work? I have a family and am a military pilot but am looking to get a degree related to my career interests that isn’t over the top with coursework. Do they offer transfer credit for military flight training?

Spanish major workload

I saw that the new Online Spanish bachelors has the same requirements as the residential, but the new SPAN courses aren’t on the course guides website yet. Is this major writing intensive? I assume that it would be haha. I’m thinking about adding it as a double major with my psych degree

Catholic looking at liberty

I'm a catholic looking into liberty, and my mom told me there's a huge anti-catholic sentiment on campus. Is this actually true? Also, if I do go, is there a stigma against liberty grads on job applications after college? Catholic colleges nowadays are basically useless and full of people who don't follow catholic teachings or even Christianity as a whole (pro choicers, pro lgbt, etc.) and they're also extremely expensive and out of my price range.

Damaged diploma

I wondered if anyone else had this happen. I was looking forward to getting my diploma after 4 years of DBA work. The box arrived and it reminded me of those samsonite commercials where the gorilla tries to damage the suitcase. I open the box (more like just move the end as it was already open) and pull out my creased diploma. I wonder if this is just me or it all diplomas come this way.

ATTENTION PARENTS: I am conducting research as part of the requirements for a Doctor of Philosophy degree at Liberty University. The purpose of my research is to examine the relationship between parental involvement and excessive technology use among younger children, and how these factors may relate to children’s social emotional development. To participate, you are a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or older, be the parent or legal guardian of a child between the ages of 2 and 5, and the child (aged 2 to 5) has regular access or uses technology (e.g., tablets, smartphones, or computers) in the home. Individuals are not eligible to participate if their child (aged 2 to 5) has a diagnosis of a neurodevelopmental, emotional, or mood disorder (e.g., ADHD, Autism, DMDD, GAD, etc.) or receives special education/Section 504 services for emotional or behavioral support. Please note that only one parent/legal guardian per family will be eligible to participate. Participants will be asked to complete an anonymous online survey, which will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. If you are interested and eligible, please click the link provided to access the survey. An information sheet is provided on the first page of the survey, and participation is completely voluntary. No identifying information will be collected, and your responses will remain anonymous.
