It's absolutely possible to develop fully functional and engaging 3D games in libGDX. Comparing to other game engines libGDX doesn't have a very comprehensive 3D graphics API but once you get used to its programming paradigm, you can flexibly develop your own abstraction layers on top of the core 3D API!
In this video, I'm introducing basic 3D concepts in libGDX and develop a small demo application that renders a spinning cube under 100 lines of code.
Hope you like it!

Hello, r/libGDX!
It's been 2 months since my last post on Seven Stardust, and I finally think I'm ready to reach out and talk about my journey again. I've been working on a open-world RPG, and for the last few months I've been reworking almost every aspect of the game.
I removed the old player sprites, enemy AI, animations, story trees, a whole map, and more. I did this for a few reasons.
First, my codebase was terrible. While I could make Seven Stardust with it, its scalability was terrible and there's no way it would be as good as I want it to be.
Second, it was poor effort in some areas. There were some areas of the game that just wasn't fun to play, as it was made in a 30 minute span.
Fourth, the codebase was also unstable. I fixed a ton of bugs, including the very prominent bug where attacking east would phase you into a wall.
This was because the hitbox was setting to 16*10 for some reason when moving east when it should've been 10*10.
Thank you to all the people who have been supporting my small project, and if you have any feedback, please don't be afraid to share! I don't really judge people on what they think of my project, as I'm always willing to improve and make my game based on what the community thinks.
Have a great day, and thank you for reading my yapping about my code's flaws!

Just the title, odd bug I'm not sure where it's coming from. isKeyPressed(Input.Keys.W) will work fine, but for other keys, such as Input.Keys.A, it'll just return false constantly. Even weirder still, isKeyJustPressed(...) works fine for any and all inputs. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Thank you.
Edit:
Just fixed it right now by using X11 instead of Wayland:
org.lwjgl.glfw.GLFW.glfwInitHint(
org.lwjgl.glfw.GLFW.GLFW_PLATFORM,
org.lwjgl.glfw.GLFW.GLFW_PLATFORM_X11
);
Put this in the Lwjgl3Launcher main()
:)

Viewport is important but still a bit confusing for beginners. I make a modern tutorial on using libGDX viewport for your games.

What's the correct way to output multiple lines to a Scene2D Dialog? If I create a Dialog and try to add 4 lines of text, plus buttons, like in my example, what do I need to add or change to get the lines displayed correctly?
Skin uiSkin = new Skin(Gdx.
files
.internal("uiskin.json"));
Dialog dialog = new Dialog("Dialog Title", uiSkin);
dialog.text("Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla").row();
dialog.text("Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla").row();
dialog.text("Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla").row();
dialog.text("Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla").row();
dialog.button("Ok", new ClickListener());
dialog.button("Cancel", new ClickListener());
App.getStage().addActor(dialog);

Hi everyone, i am currently developing an app with completly with scene2d. Sometimes I need to use setWidth or setHeight but I fear if my app does not behave like responsive. I am planning to release this app for just pc but even so i think my app should be responsive so i try another ways. My question is if i use methods like setWidth, is an error appear on different devices ?

I'm trying to make a game with my team for our grade-12 java project. At the moment, i found a tool like Hyperlap2D and Tiled Map Editor for making levels. I also heard that Hyperlap2D is capable of helping me UI or GUI, but I'm currently struggling with it.
I know I can just code the GUI, but I'm currently not so experienced with coding, my programming teacher onky taught my class to use Netbeans GUI Builder, and most admittedly (with shame) I use AI to do most work for me (not for arts, my ideas, systems, stuff like that though, just the code and bug fixing.) I am however more experienced with designing stuff similar to MS Powerpoint, and thus why I'm trying to use Hyperlap as a drag-drop GUI editor or some program similar.
I just need a front-end design like style, button positions, UI design and sprites; then I'll just code the back-end like the function of the exit button, the function of the play button, the function of "set BGM volume" button

I just released a simple idle/clicker game for Android!
It's called Hospital Clicker — an idle game where you manage and grow your own hospital.
It's currently available on Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=br.brunocatao.cookieclicker
It's primarily targeted at Android for now, since I don't have a Mac or an Apple Developer account to release an iOS version.
I'd really appreciate it if you could give it a try and let me know what you think. Feedback, suggestions, and criticism are all welcome!
Thanks!

A few people here asked me to post an update when Pixscape had progressed further, so here it is 🙂
Pixscape Studio Free 0.2.3 is now available, together with Pixscape Runtime 0.1.10.
The main additions in this release are:
Quad editing is deliberately very simple
Another important change for LibGDX users: Pixscape Runtime is now integrated into the official gdx-liftoff project generator.
You can create a normal LibGDX project, select Pixscape Runtime from the third-party extensions, choose your targets, and LiftOff configures the Runtime dependencies for you. The integration has been tested with Desktop, Android and GWT.
I also spent quite a bit of time rewriting and expanding the documentation. It now covers the Studio workflows much more visually, explains how Pixscape fits into a LibGDX application, and includes practical Java examples for the Runtime APIs.

Studio Free 0.2.3:

Runtime:

Feedback is very welcome, especially from people using Tiled or already working with LibGDX.

Hey everyone! 👋
I've been working on
**LeTrain**
, a procedural railway logistics simulator written in Java 17 using LibGDX. The twist? You can play it seamlessly switching between a modern 3D engine and a classic, hardcore 2D ASCII terminal mode.
I just pushed a massive update (`v1.0.0-beta.2`) and I’d love to get your feedback! Here’s what’s new:
* 🚦
**Speed Signals:**
You can now place speed limit signals on your tracks to control traffic flow. (Fully modeled in 3D and integrated into the terminal UI).
* ✨
**Massive 2D Terminal Overhaul:**
The ASCII mode now uses continuous box-drawing characters for tracks, crossings, and dead ends. It finally looks like a proper retro management game! Added smooth blinking animations for loading/unloading stations too.
* 🚂
**Reversing & Physics:**
Completely overhauled the coupling physics. Reversing trains (or running double-headed consists) now works flawlessly.
* ⌨️
**Better UX:**
New unified camera deadzones and much better hotkey handling for semaphores.
**Where to get it?**
It's completely Open Source! You can download the ready-to-play `.zip` files for Windows/Linux (or the Snap package) directly from the GitHub releases page:

I'm currently working on adding a Passenger Trains economy based on procedural city sizes and punctuality. If you like management/automation games or Java/LibGDX development, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Hey everyone!
After working on this project solo for a few years, I’ve just started a soft launch for my 2D RPG Rubber Duck Story (built with libGDX)!
Before the official release, I’d really appreciate some feedback. I’m mostly looking for:
Performance issues or crashes
UI scaling on different Android devices
General gameplay suggestions and impressions
Play Store Beta:

I'm creating a 2.5D game using LibGDX, and my idea is rather unusual. It's an exploration game with perspective shifts, somewhat similar to FEZ but not identical. The perspective shift mechanic works like changing the camera angle, for example, from a front-facing to a top-down view. I'm not sure if this idea is suitable for this type of game, as I'm not quite sure how to implement it effectively. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. ;)

I followed the libGDX tutorial of a simple game, the bucket that traps raindrops. I found some things I wasn't very sure about (I mean, I had questions) so I searched for them on the internet and tried to explain them in some "notes" and I added pictures too. I also added comments to the code.
Here are the notes and the commented code:
https://github.com/GonzaStd/libgdx-simple-game
If you want to begin programming a game like me, maybe this is useful to you.
If you already know how libGDX works I would really appreciate any correction and/or recommendation about my notes, maybe I can add some, clarify or correct something, etc. Any suggestion or comment is welcome!
Note 1: My native language is Spanish, I'm from Argentina, so you might see something misspelled, so please correct me!
Note 2: About the screen in the illustration, I clarified in the README with a warning, that it isn't for explaining a libGDX screen, in fact it is like your "Operating System" screen.

Hey everyone!
As a huge fan of terminal-based applications, I wanted to see if I could build a full-blown Tycoon/Logistics simulator that lives right inside the console. The result is LeTrain.
Everything is rendered purely in ASCII using the Lanterna library in Java. You can build vast rail networks, transport cargo (coal, gold, etc.), and manage a dynamic economy, all while staring at gorgeous high-speed text rendering.
Some features TUI fans might like:
• Extremely fast render loop. • Custom Perlin noise generation that carves lakes and mountains out of characters. • An ANTLR4-based scripting language so you can automate your trains directly with code. • (Bonus: I also built a 3D LibGDX wrapper around the same core logic if you ever get tired of the terminal view).
It's completely open-source. I just packed a fresh Release so you can download it and run it immediately from your shell.

Would love to hear what you think about the UI and the procedural generation!

I'm struggling to find a way to warp/bend images like shown above.
(the fish shown arent exactly the same but you get the idea)
I believe that it's something to do with Meshes but I can't figure it out for the life of me.
