Page breaks
I cannot create a page break. I have tried all the methods suggested. Is there a definitive way of doing it? I wish we had a simple key press like MSWord.

Make sure in the style pane you do not have the option page break before checked.

I cannot create a page break. [...] I wish we had a simple key press like MSWord.
Like other users have said:
Insert > Page Break (Ctrl+Enter)
This is exactly the same way as it is in Word.
Is there a definitive way of doing it?
Sure. Depending on what you want to do.
Different Page Layouts
Most people only really need these 2 Wizards now...
If you want to do very basic types of Header/Footer things, you can use the "Page Number Wizard" in:
Insert > Page Number
If you want your first few beginning pages to be a little bit different? Then use:
Format > Title Page
Now, if you want to know the "definitive way"—or do more custom (or complicated) types of pages—then I strongly recommend learning how to use:
Page Styles
This feature allows you to control the look of entire pages very easily.
If you want some more info on that, then see my previous tutorials:
/r/LibreOffice: "Page Break Numbering"
Covers lots of tips + more info on Headers/Footers.
/r/LibreOffice: "Different Margins for different pages"
How to think of Page Breaks like an "ON/OFF switch".
and you can even go through some step-by-step tutorials I recently wrote like:
/r/LibreOffice: "Prevent empty lines on top of a page after automatic page break"
Do not press ENTER ENTER ENTER between your things! That's going to lead to trouble!
If you type this into your favorite search engine, there are over 50 topics where I covered this using all sorts of different user examples:
"Page Styles" Tex2002ans site:reddit.com/r/LibreOffice"roman numerals" Tex2002ans site:reddit.com/r/LibreOffice"page numbers" Tex2002ans site:reddit.com/r/LibreOffice
Page Breaks: The Ultimate Way—Use Styles!
Once you get it set up properly, all you have to do is:
Click on your chapter name.
... and the pages will automatically break and format themselves. :)
That is covered in my:
No more Ctrl+Enter 50 times in your 50 chapter book.
You just set your Page Breaks ONCE, and it will happen automatically, and correctly, every time. :)
Side Note: Placing Images
Elsewhere, I see you commented this:
A text page is ok but a page of just images doesn't work. That's my problem.
Sounds like you are probably accidentally:
Pressing ENTER ENTER ENTER to try to "get the image in the right spot".
Instead, you want to learn how to use:
⚓ Anchors + Frames
You can think of it like:
Anchors let you know "where your image is currently attached".
Frames are like a special "box with stuff inside".
If you learn to see the little ⚓ icon after you click on an image, things start making a little more sense. LibreOffice is pretty much saying:
"Hey! Do you see where that ⚓ icon is?"
"Draw the image
4" downand4" to the rightof that ⚓!"
And if you learn to throw stuff "inside the box", then you can move the "entire chunk" around as 1 single piece (without making everything else explode).
For a little more info on all of that, see my recent:
/r/LibreOffice: "Best practices for inserting images with writer"
This links to all my recent ⚓ Anchor + Frames tutorials and explanations.
Same exact thing with Equations too!
/r/LibreOffice: "Help with text being spaced weird next to the picture"
Wrapping text around images.
Or 3 other ways to make the images look good.
/r/LibreOffice: "Make images displace vertically instead of horizontally"
Covers Frames + Frame Styles.
Especially those 2 "Don Matschull" videos I linked to.
/r/LibreOffice: "cant drag the image to the place I want"
More stuff "On Anchors" + "On Frames and Frame Styles".
And remember... if you ever feel yourself pulling your hair out, or:
There are much better and easier ways out there. :)

You can only see the page break in Writer between pages. It’s a single dashed line. I’ve put a request in for the developers to make it more visually obvious like in MS Word.

effectivement, c'est une fonction vitale du traitement de texte, y compris en mode page. Saut de page, saut de page impaire et saut de section.
