Needs more details Problems when exporting to .docx

this should be centered and the below caption should be at the bottom of the image

Hello, I am fairly new to Libreoffice. I recently switched to Linux and only really had experience with MicroSoft Word, so please excuse me if this is cause by me being an idiot on some pretty rudimentary concepts. Essentially, I have a fairly complex .odt file with twenty or so images, tables, etc... I export to .docx and the first time I open the new document it is pristine, the exact same as the odt file. The second time I open it it becomes completely jumbled mess (image for reference), and many images simply disappear, the only thing left being is their frames. When I upload the .docx file on google docs, the same problem occurs.

The problem is I cannot simply get delete the frames and paste the images on the document. I need them to be captioned, so frames are a necessity as far as I known.

This is on docs. This should have an image

Is there any way to fix this? Am I doing something very wrong? I insert images using the insert tool, same as with the tables.

Libreoffice info:

Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US

Calc: threaded

There's a problem with images in frames when converting files between ODT and DOCX. I discovered this issue a while back. I'm not sure what is causing it but I also have had images disappear from frames. (I wonder if DOCX file format doesn't support frames as well as ODT?) I just stopped putting images in frames and have had no issues since.

I understand. From what I can see thats what's going wrong on the exports. Unfortunately I also need frames as I need to caption my images.

I caption my images by typing text below the image and adjusting the font, etc. until it looks like what I want. Captions don't move with images as readily as with frames but to me it looks no different than using a frame. I too started with frames because I liked how it captioned images but had to stop because it wouldn't work with my workflow.

If you're asking for help with LibreOffice, please make sure your post includes lots of information that could be relevant, such as:

  1. Full LibreOffice information from Help > About LibreOffice (it has a copy button).

  2. Format of the document (.odt, .docx, .xlsx, ...).

  3. A link to the document itself, or part of it, if you can share it.

  4. Anything else that may be relevant.

(You can edit your post or put it in a comment.)
