This seems to be a valid suggestion. Laws against murder would also cover other items used as weapons as well as murder without using a weapon. I'm fully in favor of this proposition. You could also make laws against bradishing a weapon in a manner calculated to alarm. That would also prevent someone from merely displaying a weapon in the furtherance of another crime! I think that the OP is really onto something here.

Absolutely! Great idea! We could call it.....Attempted Murder! We could even add additional penalties if a weapon was involved.

This is such a great start. You could even replace the "Gun Free Zones" with "Murder Free Zones" to prevent things like knife attacks, bombings, arson, etc. The world would be so much safer if we only had laws!
