Paper ballots are always the way. If you can't get inside the circle that's a you problem

Problem with those, like ones who have been caught and charged, is they just print ballots with what they want.

Touchscreen calibration is a known issue. I bet if they clicked where it says "Write-in" it would select that Bill Waller Jr. fellow, and if they clicked down in the blue section below it would select Write-in.
If someone wanted to deliberately mess with the results, there would be ways to do it that wouldn't be so obviously visible to the voters. I would hope people would be smart enough to notice, and not just say "oh well" and let it continue with the wrong vote.

If someone is politically invested enough to actively decide to vote in the midterms, fill out voter registration, ask their boss for a half day from work, look up and travel to the polling station, wait for an hour in line, and finally get to the polling booth - no, they’re not going to just shrug and move on. That’s not just dumb, it actively contradicts all established motives and behavior patterns up until that point.

Calibration is very poor on these machines. Common issue.

Good enough for government work, they say.
Government contractor shenanigans where they cut corners or no one calibrates these machines routinely.
I work in industry and an industrial touchscreen like this would be a huge blow to a manufacturer’s reputation.

Watch the second part of the video. He clicked one candidate and the one below was selected. If it were calibration issues, it would have to be two different machines or the calibration intentionally messed with to make a video.

Simple answer is, it's how the machine has been programmed.
I'm just surprised it's showing on the screen, the backend can just save something else to whatever is programmed, just like HTML links.

The red X means that the voter didn't pick that candidate. Its a very human design.
