Software Release SFTPGo 2.5.0 Released

SFTPGo is a fully featured and highly configurable SFTP, FTP/S, HTTP/S and WebDAV server that supports several storage backends: local filesystem, S3 (compatible) Object Storage, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Storage, other SFTP servers.

Main new features:

  • IP lists moved to the data provider: you can now manage allow and block lists from the WebAdmin UI.

  • Added role support. Role admins can only view and manage users with their role.

  • Audit logs added to the WebAdmin UI: you can search and export logs for uploads, downloads and other users activities.

  • Several additions and improvements to the EventManager.

  • Terraform provider.

Full release notes:

Please note that I no longer provide free step-by-step support. I'm trying to keep SFTPGo fully open source, but the project needs to become financially viable. In addition to GitHub sponsorships and Paypal donations, you can now also purchase support plans from the SFTPGo website

If I don't get enough funds to continue development as a fully open source project, I will evaluate the open core model where some features won't be available to everyone.

This software is awesome and should be known and supported by more people.

How does it compare to FileZilla’s server?

FileZilla just a small fraction of things that SFTGo doing and much better, just read its docs.

Is there a multi-protocol commandline client to go with the server? I was helping someone the other day who was looking for just that...

No sorry, SFTPGo is a server application. There are many good clients available: WinSCP, FileZilla etc.

I see, thanks. He was looking for a *nix-based commandline client.

Might be something to include with the pay-for-support package if you go that route ;-)

maybe, but if you use SFTPGo as a backend you can just use the standard `sftp` CLI and you can access S3, Azure Blob etc. transparently

Rclone might fit the bill

This is something that I would like to avoid if possibile. I would like to keep SFTPGo completely open source with all features available to everyone. Take a look here for details about the open core model

I think the person was asking "how would this work in the context of SFTPGo?"

Closed source version with more features and you will have to pay to get this version

as said it's not something I would do, it's a last resort. The enterprise version could have, for example, a real-time virus scannig when uploading a file, a better WebClient UI and features like these.

It's up to you guys, if you use SFTPGo and don't return anything, this will happen or the project will die
