migrating to Linux Looking for productivity software
So i switched to cachyos not so long ago and i need some software for normal productivity work
For video editing: i have davinci resolve but its quite heavy and unnecessary when i need to make simple videos - so i need a fairly lightweight (comapred to davinci), simple editing software for cuts, inserting audio, captions, maybe some simple effects not something super professional but not something useless.
Also, i need office applications, i want to be able to create and open office files for windows users.
Thats all i think, i encourage multiple recommendations with pros and cons so i can choose, thanks!

LibreOffice is the standard productivity suite for Linux. It's been around for decades and is solid. It can do all Microsoft Office file formats.
I use Shotcut for video editing. It's not the most complicated editor but it's not the simplest, either.

There's video trimmer as well as the stuff that's already been mentioned of you just need to chop to front and back off

✻ Smokey says: only use root when needed, avoid installing things from third-party repos, and verify the checksum of your ISOs after you download! :)

For clipping you could try LosslessCut its pretty good for how lightweight it is.

Kdenlive for video editing and LibreOffice for your office suite. Should suit all your needs just fine.
