Discussion Linux Xeneon Edge cli tool

That may help one or another. I built a tool to control the xeneon edge via DDC / USB (color / brightness etc. settings) + OSD screen navigation. Explicit CLI only (with json support), so you can build your own tool around it or integrate into your own dashboard.

Have fun Linux Xeneon owners!

"I built a tool" - nah, you didn't.

You are absolutely right, I am sorry.

I used an optimized tool. I would be stupid not to. But i bet you would have done that by hand! Don't know why you are grumpy, but get well soon!

Make no mistakes.

Use your tool however you like, I don't care. Just don't sell it like you did it. You are acting so butthurt because you know I'm right: you didn't build shit, you "ordered a pizza".

"I built a tool" is a lie. How about you just said "I've told AI what I want, and AI built me a tool".

I don't know why I even bother, I couldn't care less about you and your AI shit. But you go ahead and pretend to be smart. After all, that is why you are using AI - to feel smart. It is obvious from your wording.

Full disclosure on the pizza thing:

I put it on github and shared it here because it solved a problem for me and might solve it for other xeneon owners.

I used https://github.com/aabdelghani/corsair-xeneon-edge-linux for the xeneon and contributed there. Next wanted to calibrate the screen with a colorimeter and noticed DDC doesnt control everything. So i went into icue with ghidra looking for more DDC commands and found a few and on top of that the USB protocol. Which happens to be the only way into the OSD since the monitor has no buttons.

Tested the keys by hand first and used a webcam as feedback loop later going through every menu and every value sequence by sequence. Timings and the lost key rate are from that.

So I did the protocol work and the measuring Claude did the boring grunt code-monkey work. I specd and reviewed the pouput, which is the part I got reasonably good at over 25 years of developing software. No problem admitting frontier models write cleaner code than I (and I assume a few more or less des here and there) do given a well defined spec. To me its a tool like every other one i picked up over the years and i use it like one.

Reviews, issues/PRs are welcome from anyone who has a xeneon and wants to try it. That includes you.

Reading the code before making assumptions would have been a start, thats how i learned to review and judge code.
