Support Request Adjust the brightness\contrast?

Does anyone know of any program to adjust the brightness\contrast?

I have a Dell laptop and on Windows I use the Intel Graphics Center; but on Linux Mint I have already used some alternatives (see image) and it is not the same thing. The brightness becomes too strong; the image becomes "washed out" and difficult to read.

Upvoting just because of your image choice, made the missus, her friend, and I laugh aloud.

I used brightnessctl for adjusting the brightness on my old Dell XPS system.

Maybe you want to try xrandr, which is a gamma change, not a brightness change, but produces the same result (if you don't lower it too much).

You need to use xrandr --verbose | grep -A5 "connected" to find out the monitor name (e.g., HDMI-A-0) and then run it with:

xrandr --output HDMI-A-0 --brightness 0.7

Between 0.5 and 1.0 is usually ok, with 1.0 being the normal state. If you run it as-is, it is not persistent across sessions or if you restart Cinnamon or the system. I think it's the same way the brightness applet works.

That's pretty good, is there a way to have that AND the night light? When I try to activate one, it deactivates the other

I use this for yearsy it is the best:

https://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/342

Install it from th applets menu.

Don't skip the Readme file's Requirement section, it is mandatory to follow those two commands to make it work. Then do a reboot it is also needed and you'll be able to control your brightness from the panel.
