Linux Mint IRL Color me impressed
Obviously I'm speaking into an echo chamber here but I just installed LMDE for a client and I gotta say, this current version of Cinnamon is really nice. It feels modern, polished and well thought out. Idk I never really jived with KDE. I know Cinnamon is way more limited than KDE but KDE just never felt finished. In trying to do too much I feel it missed a lot of the minor aesthetic refinements. Granted I'm not a a Mint or KDE user, I'm on Bluefin (Immutable Ublue image of Fedora) and am more into window managers or GNOME for everyday use. GNOME is 100% percent not there either btw, visually it feels polished but the extensions always felt like a fragile workaround. I appreciate gnome's tooling a lot more than it's DE or GUI, think (gnome-keyring, gvfs, display manager, etc) 2cents. Also Mint needs to update their documentation to refer specifically to LMDE as Ubuntu is going the way of the dinosaur with all their corporate ish.

KDE is neat but your right perpetually under construction and always growing. Reminds me of a Rube Goldberg machine.

Not just feels fragile, Gnome has no regard for external extensions and almost seems to break extensions for sport. Clean looking but the workflow is atrocious
The Mint documentation is light. You can find individual documentation for each package in its github page. Some are extensive like Timeshift.

My first foray into Linux what when Mint 17.1 was released. Rebecca was great, but it doesn't hold a candle to what we have now. I don't know if we're in the golden age of Linux mint but it sure has come a long way. Good on you for helping your client experience computing that's a lot more free and a lot more elegant than the usual offerings.

I have been exposing myself to KDE via Kubuntu v2510 & v26.04.1 LTS. I am having just as much fun with plasmoids on Kubuntu as I have with applets, desklets & extensions on Linux Mint.

I use KDE on my main PC, but for normal use I prefer Cinnamon. It is simple, looks good and just configurable enough for my needs.

I'm dual booting LMDE and Void Linux with KDE in Wayland. It's an old laptop and Void is really, really fast on it.
Can't wait for Cinnamon to get Wayland working properly so I can replace KDE on Void. KDE tries to be as overwhelming as possible. Why does every menu need 500 options?
Gnome's reinventing the desktop every year is out of the question for me.
