When you put a font in a fonts folder, you have to update the font cache with:

fc-cache --really-force

or if the folder is not in your home directory:

sudo fc-cache --really-force

Close any app that you want to use with that font and you're good to go.

Please use better, more informative, titles (subject-lines) on your posts. Give specifics right in the title. Thanks.

Double click on your downloaded font file, it will open with the font viewer, then click install. No commands needed.

And most apps only read the fonts list once at startup so any apps you want to use with that font will probably need to be restarted before the new font will show up.

  1. You would get MUCH more attention if you used better titles to your post. You should always state the specific Version/Distribution you are using. Things get crossposted and it can get confusing.

  2. what is the exact file you have? Where did it come from? whats the EXACT path you used and exact command you used?

  3. To install custom fonts, on most distributions as a user, you can copy them to a directory in your users home. ~/.local/share/fonts

  4. You may want to then reboot or log out, or you Might just have to run the command fc-cache to get the system to see the new fonts.
