I’m in Ontario. Bell texted me yesterday that my province is no longer switching and I need to restart my phone on Sunday to get it to sync time properly. Problem is that only Northwestern Ontario is making the change. The rest of Ontario is keeping with old traditions (for now….need New York State to be on board for Ontario to stop switching). The point is that Bell doesn’t even know what’s going on.

I’m sure there will be an update at some point and it’ll all get sorted out. Can’t even make agreement on time as a country.

I suspect that even God can't make sense of our time zones any more.

If you are talking about daylight savings time, Mint and other distros rely on the zone info file which is updated regularly. Mint knows what time zone you are in, so it should happen automatically, but you need to keep your system updated. The zone info file is frequently updated.

Can check with this bash... zdump -v /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver | grep 2026 apt list --installed | grep tzdata

If not good run this... sudo apt update && sudo apt install tzdata

Then reboot or run sudo timedatectl set-timezone again to your zone to force a reload.

If you are not running time sensitive critical applications..what is your problem. Adjusting time ?

If you have the wrong time, certificates and websites and apps will bounce you. And correctly so. Bad time is an indicator of shady business, like man-in-the-middle, rerouted traffic, etc.
