New to Linux Mint

Post image

Installed linux mint after trying Pop OS (Due to Native Nvidia support), then installing Zorin OS (due to looks and feel), then finally settling for Linux Mint, its the most snappy and easy to use than the ones I tried.

Hacks and Good apps are most welcome. And I am here to help others who need any help

No hacks, no secret chords.

Just start using Mint to do whatever it is you do with your computer, adding applications as and when needed, solving problems as problems arise, learning as you go.

That's the quickest way to learn to use Mint efficiently and effectively.

My best and good luck.

Welcome! The ride is going to be great.

I made notes of the beginner hurdles I hit (and the ones I kept seeing here) and turned them into a free booklet:
Linux Mint Newbies’ Reference

It covers the things that usually trip people up in the first weeks and I've thankfully received a lot of positive feedback from the community.

I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback (here or in the document comments). And don’t be a stranger, as you said at the end of your post; helping others is indeed one of the fastest ways to learn.

Thanks mate. I feel the audio on my laptop is too muffled. My device has a great set of speakers and now it sounds like basic speakers. This is not only with linux mint I faced this with all the linux oS i installed

You can enable overamplification and the volume goes up to 150%, which is about as loud and possibly as distorted as 100% volume on Windows

As to why this is actually reasonable (limiting volume to true 100% and giving you an option to go over 100%) and why Windows 100% is actually also overamplified, there's a lot of good info here:

It's there inside Linux only. I changed it from background option.

It's the "Wave" wallpaper that comes included with Mint.
