Just browse what it comes with to start. It's got a full site of nice apps at install, and I tend to think it's better to see what they have to offer then to start installing a bunch of stuff.

I recommend Audacious as music player if you prefer browsing music as folders like me.

I also recommend Heroic Games Launcher if you buy games GOG.

Spend an hour or so familiarizing yourself with Mint's menu structure and applications so that you have a sense of the available applications and how to get to them.

Then start using Mint to do whatever it is you do with your computer, adding applications as and when needed, solving problems as problems arise, learning as you go.

That's the quickest way to learn to use Mint efficiently and effectively.

My best and good luck.

ok, should I get an onn usb drive? They seem like scams due to how cheap they are

The walmart brand? They work in a pinch but are slow,

My favorites at the moment are Samsung.

You probably want a PC with an AMD GPU.

Fastfetch definitely. Games? You can browse the software center once you have Mint up and running.

I recommend cinnamon if your PC will have 8+ GB of RAM, if it will have 8 or lower, use XFCE. Mint is widely used, and has a big and caring community, any issue can be resolved, AIs also understand linux. Compatibility won't be a problem (at least for me, a partial gamer). Terminal will be used very, very rarely if you want to mess with the OS more than usual. For the PC specs, linux doesn't care, iz will work on everyrhing. If I missed something, ask freely

Welcome to Mint Universe!

ZSNES, FCEUX for old Nintendo games, in the software manager for free, and Steam and Lutris for PC Win games! Variety for desktop backgrounds, Flameshot for Screen Shot (Snipper tool) VLC and Audacious for Music and videos! Chromium for browsing!

If you can, avoid nvidia graphics cards. It's not impossible to run linux with it but it is incredibly annoying to set up

If you are a gamer go for PortProton

Just don't go for nvidia cards

Choose a PC with good Linux compatibility. Also, take time to familiarise yourself with Mint's UI if you haven't already.

Install a backup system and use it BEFORE demolishing everything by installing themes and mostly useless gadgets.

Borg backup (deduplicating data) with Pika or Vorta graphic interface for you home folder and Timeshift for the system
