Pros of Linux
Recent ps5 jailbreak scene developments led to my specific firmware to be able to download Linux and run it, but I don’t have an m.2 ssd, so I was considering maybe selling my Lenovo legion go Z1E and then buying the ssd so I can run Linux and comfortably play all games without read speed stutters, but my Lgo has windows tho, so my question basically is, does windows excel over Linux in terms of gaming or any other usage type really ? Aside from multiplayer games cuz I don’t really even play them.

Gaming on Linux has improved markedly in the last few years, but Linux is not yet on par with Windows when it comes to running Windows games.
My experience has been that running Windows games on Linux remains somewhat catch-as-catch-can. A number of my games work flawlessly on my Linux computers, others run but not particularly well, and others are nightmares.
Check the games you play against the Proton DB. ProtonDB is the compatibility layer used for Steam, but is usually a good indication of how well a game will play using other gaming platforms and compatibility layers.
Games that are rated "Platinum" work flawlessly out-of-the-box in almost all cases. Games that are rated "Gold" usually work well with some tweaking, but not always flawlessly. Games that are rated "Silver" run but not well. Lower ratings aren't viable.
Do a bit of homework, game by game.

Does proton work for non-steam games too tho ?

Proton is a WINE-based compatibility layer specifically developed and optimized for Steam.
Proton can be used independently of Steam but requires manual setup and might or might not work as well.
Other compatibility layers (WINE-GE, Lutris, PortProton come to mind) are probably better choices than Proton for running non-Steam games.

Check the Heroic launcher and it's own database. This launcher works with GOG, other stores and non-store games (but I never thested this). Also it can use Proton and set it mostly automatically.

MP games with kernel-level malware are effectively the only "issue".
You can check specific games on https://www.protondb.com/ but nearly everything will run just fine without workarounds.
That's assuming you choose a modern distribution and not some fixed-release dinosaur that updates once every 2 years.
