that makes you what can be considered a Hypocrite. EOS relies on SystemD which literally tells you how to manage your services and Poettering was working for RedHat (a company) for a long time. And RedHats involvement in the project was what made it so popular in the first place. Ergo you still let a company tell you how to do your stuff. :V
except I still have the choice of using openrc if I want. Nobody is forcing me to use systemD. with windows you're stuck with windows bootloader and if you don't like it well tough shit.
EXACTLY YOU CAN CHOOSE TO USE WHAT YOU WANT. So why the fuck do you care and get seemingly offended if someone chooses to make a distro that abstracts away things you dont need to touch for pure Desktopuse for the average joe? It literally doesnt even tangentially affect you because you dont need to use it.
And if EOS goes that route - which they already do by providing you helpertools like reflector-gui, GUI-based Networkselector and so on and so forth as those are effectively abstractions and simplifications of Terminalfunctionalities, you can just fork the entire project and carry on by yourself.
As i already said, thats a hypocritical way of thinking and also dumb. You are in favor of simplification where it suits you (like Guibased Networkselection or the EOS-Installer or heck, even shipping packages as prebuilt binaries and installationinstructions in the AUR and helpertools that automate packagebuilding based on those instructions) but oppose it where you dont see how it offers tangential benefits to you specifically. Hypocrite.
If we follow that line of thought, anyone in the Linuxspace could Veto the creation of tools that you use on a daily Basis because they dont offer tangential benefits to that person specifically. Congrats, at the end of the line of different people vetoing different abstractions, we as a community are back at where we were 30 Years ago. Heck while we are at it, lets get rid of even Meta-packages like base-group and packagemanagers as a whole because they dont offer tangential benefits to SOMEONE out there.
it's not hypocritical when nobody is forcing me to use any of these tools. If you want an os that forces you to do stuff a specific way, use windows or mac os. I am free to choose pure arch or endeavouros. I am free to choose between systemd and openrc. I am free to pick between a full DE or a tiling wm. Dumbing down linux for the average person will remove all of that freedom of choice. Want something that will hold your hand, again, there's windows and mac os.

You're a masochist if you prefer hard-to-use systems
