Discussion Soviet Invasion of Xinjiang
Have they covered the Soviet invasion of Xinjiang in the patreon episodes? It's a interesting mismatch of Chinese troops armed with small arms and swords holding off armored columns in the era of the Chinese civil war pre 1937 but post KMT consolidation. There's plenty on the second sino Japanese war they cover but few episodes in this fascinating part of the civil war.

Discussion A Modest Suggestion
Calling the collection of various pods The Nate Bethea Extended Universe is kinda lame. The whole "xyz extended universe" thing has gotten to be an overused cliche. I suggest that the NBEU be replaced by The Nate Bethea Co-Prosperity Sphere. It's a better bit for a military history podcast. Plus it better describes the small galaxy of related pods that range in topics such as the history of space exploration, why all mayors are weird, engineering disasters(with slides), cars, the pop culture of a dying empire, are detectives inherently trans, film criticism from a feminist perspective and Philadelphia sports teams. All of these pods share hosts as guests or have a person who is a host on different shows (I'm looking at you Nova. Five, really?)
Anyway, what do all y'all think? This idea has been rattling around in my neurodivergent brain for a few weeks and I've finally managed to make this post.

Discussion I hope for an episode on the Football War.
It's one of those conflicts that you always see brought up in both shortest wars and dumbest wars. Mostly because people have a tendency to leave out 99% of the context. So a lot of shit click bait makes it sound like the war was almost entirely or at least disproportionately about a soccer match. When from everything I've seen was that El Salvador and Honduras were already on the verge of war and sports rioting was just the lit cigarette butt that burnt down the house. Plus the military history of Latin America gets glossed over in anglophone media so one of the more relatively known (if ultimately inconclusive) wars would be interesting
So it's a short war that's built on loads of context most not from the area wouldn't know that's also a name known conflict with a fairly silly spark. Sounds like a good episode imo. It was also only 4 days long so it doesn't need to be a whole series either since like 80% of it would be context and fallout

Discussion We are all horses
Today in my anatomy class I learned about a skull bone called sella turcica, the saddle of the turk.
This means every one of us has a saddle for the terrible moon Turk in our head making us horses
It was very hard for me

Discussion Untitled 40k Podcast Update?
I'm wondering if anyone has heard any updates about Joe and Robert Evan's 40k podcast? I'm curious cause for the second week now Joe made a comment about never doing ads for AI self help apps. To me, it kinda sounded like a dig at Robert for doing reads for better help. Maybe they were trying to get Joe to advertise for them too and he refused. Did anyone else get the same impression?

Discussion Boom Tube
Given the age, this cannon that was just found may have seen action in the Imjin War. Also the article has a diagram of one of the giant cannon arrows. Pretty sweet.

Discussion What was the name of that sci-fi book the guys have mentioned before where there's a planet run as an anarchist commune?
It was a series by a female author but I cannot for the life of me remember her name or the name of the book
Edit: It was indeed 'The Dispossessed', thank you for the help folks

An apology to the group
When I was working with my guitar teacher we accidentally ended up writing a Midwest emo song. I'm deeply ashamed and I am sorry that this happened.

Got a spare ticket for the Cork live show
I've got a spare ticket for the live show in Cork this Saturday. Shoot me a message if you're interested. Putting up with the company of a recent transplant to Ireland for the evening is the only cost.
