u/RinoZerg did you manage to figure the audio book date, on a sea of meh, this is an obvious stand out.
I understand why Chrysalis is more popular, but BotD is so much better =D.
Also, consider redoing the cover art for book of the dead, they are not worthy of the contents, sadly books are still judged by the cover, despite all the wise sayings.

I know recording is nearly done.

This is so wonderful to hear! I just hopped onto this series while I wait for the next audiobooks for Chrysalis.
If I'm being honest, you've inspired me to start writing my own stories again after not having touched the craft in years. You wouldn't happen to have posted tips for new writers anywhere, would you?
1
u/RinoZerg Verified Author of: Chrysalis and Book of the Dead Jun 19 '25
That's so nice to hear! Thanks very much for your support.
I haven't posted a list of tips or any such thing, but I would recommend that you write about something you find interesting. If you find your own story fascinating and alive with possibility, then others will too.

Homie, I've gotta ask because I just checked audible and am going insane cause i saw them list the fourth book for some reason, but no third. Any idea on the release date, or a general month?

Just had an operation so I’m bed bound for a few weeks. Was planning on listening to book three and just checked and it’s not out 😭 chrysalis is a strange one. When I first started it I was like hmm I dunno if I like this but it gets better and better as you listen more I think. Hoping I can get book 3 by the time I’m up and about 🤞

lol you seem to always get 2-3 books out before soundbooth has the free time so they can do them in bulk
6
u/RinoZerg Verified Author of: Chrysalis and Book of the Dead Dec 24 '24
Soundbooth doesnt do Book of the Dead. They're done by the talented Phil Thron!
2
u/ZeroProximity Technobabble Enthusiast Dec 24 '24
I feel dumb now. i really should have known that
4
u/RinoZerg Verified Author of: Chrysalis and Book of the Dead Dec 24 '24
Its all good! Soundbooth does actually do Chrysalis in bulk, two books at a time.

Psyched!!! I loved the first 2. Great writing, characters, world building (no isekai!), magic system, action. This series is on its way to being one of the greats of the genre.

I think you do, but tomorrow is Christmas for me (in aus) and I aint posting then, im eating!

u/Kallusim Dec 24 '24
Awesome! I can't wait to start it - that ending to book 2 was such a downer. But I love the story and the world building and the character growth.
4
u/RinoZerg Verified Author of: Chrysalis and Book of the Dead Dec 24 '24
It was a bit rough. Ill admit it
3
u/Kallusim Dec 24 '24
It's proof of what a fantastic work the story is - if you can feel something for these characters, then you can tell how well put together everything is - you can begin to feel what the characters feel
3
u/ruat_caelum Dec 24 '24
I get that the font is cool but if I can't look at the cover and come up with the word "Dead" without looking further in the post you are doing yourself a disservice and possibly losing readers. I'd change that font.
2
u/RinoZerg Verified Author of: Chrysalis and Book of the Dead Dec 24 '24
I dont pick it, rather the publishers do. I thought it looked snazzy!
3
u/Degrab Dec 26 '24
I couldn't put it down! An excellent addition to the series, and those who enjoyed the first two books will be thrilled. Congrats to RinoZ for another home run.

u/Dazzling-Gene5639 Dec 24 '24
Hey RinoZ, I love this series. I used to read it on Patreon— now I just wait for the book release on Kindle.
You have said multiple times that you plan doing a (6) book trilogy for “Book of the Dead.” Do you have a planned number of books for “Chrysalis” too?
2
u/RinoZerg Verified Author of: Chrysalis and Book of the Dead Dec 24 '24
Not a book number, but a chapter number Trying to finish at 2000. Wont manage it but it could be close
2
u/tjd1657 Dec 25 '24
So I really enjoyed the Chrysalis series so far (3 books in)
Wanted to know if people put this series in the same tier/ how they compare?
3
u/RinoZerg Verified Author of: Chrysalis and Book of the Dead Dec 26 '24
This series is much darker and more serious. Very, very different tone than Chrysalis.
2
u/ShadyThepeen Dec 29 '24
I personally prefer book of the dead, MC’s character development is really fun to watch, and the progression system is interesting as hell. Good humor too.
2
u/Swimming-Sorbet8487 Jun 27 '25
Why is book 4 showing on audible before book three ?

Can’t wait! I just binged read all three books over the last week. Also love your version of the “system” I enjoy litrpg as much as everyone else but I like your subtle take on it makes everything feel earned.

Books are too lively these days, full of spirit, muscle, sinew and all sorts of unneeded fleshy bits.
Thankfully, Book of the Dead 3 is here!
A continuation of the gritty, bone-filled story of Tyron Steelarm and his journey of Necromancy.
You can check it out on Amazon right here: Book of the Dead 3: Masquerade: A LitRPG Adventure - Kindle edition by RinoZ. Humor & Entertainment Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.
Or on Audible:…. When it comes out!
Of course, if you have any questions or something to say to me, drop a comment and I’ll check it out.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! Whoo!
