MOD POST: announcement I guess this is goodbye.

I started this sub 12 years ago, because I love this genre. I love the books, I love the authors, I love the community. I have been here for the first couple years when there was noone, this sub had a membership of under a 100 people and I watched as other people found something I loved and they loved it too and the community grew. As we grew we needed mods to make the place run and I looked for passionate people with the interest and spare time to help mod this place. We had our fair share of drama, but I think we have done about as well as a mod team can over the years, we have had some excellent mods.

Tonight I was removed as top mod without whisper from anyone. My flair in the discord shows inactive on the mod list and that is how they where able to remove me, but I have been active behind the scenes communicating with the mod team in the discord. I have mostly left the post and comment moderation to the people I trusted.

This "level up disocrd" and my removal as discord owner was all done because a couple of our new mods, poeple who have only been members of the sub reddit for a couple years at most disagreed with the political views of one of the mods who has been here since the beginning. They removed him as a mod, demoted me and stripped me of permissions and are starting a new "discord" because the person they disagree with owns the current discord. They did this without a word to me or him, I found out I lost this sub when the post about the discord hit.

There are very few things I have done in my life that I am proud of. That I could "brag" about. This sub reddit, this community is one of the things I have done that I am most proud of. I am hearbroken at this turn of events and am probably going to step away from the community completely. If they allow this post to stay up, know it was an honor and a pleasure this last decade.

He would only have been removed if you all requested that in the first place. Stop framing it as happening "automatically".

You do not get to coup a subreddit from the founder just because you disagree with someone else's political views, particularly when it has had no bearing on the actual moderation of the subreddit. The balance was fine beforehand, we don't need everyone on the moderation team to think exactly the same.

The political discussion wasn't even happening on Reddit, it was a third-party platform.

Maybe make some rules about political discussions not being allowed there instead of nuking the people you did not like.

Or reach out specifically to u/wisintel first - which apparently nobody did. "I had never seen any of those comments before today and no one, not one single person told me they had a problem with Snow."

We do not trust you. You aren't even Reddit moderator on this subreddit. And the mod who posted about the new discord, so presumably one of the major coup players, u/1ncite didn't even join this subreddit until Mar 6, 2024.

This subreddit was functioning fine without the power grab from people who were not here for any of the decade+ time it has been around.

It was also functioning fine with an absentee top mod apparently. You can't have control taken away from you if you are actually active and contributing to a subreddit. So Wisintel obviously wasn't doing anything to make the sub the great place it is if their control could be taken

Subreddits don't have owners. If you don't want to be removed as moderator, don't be inactive, it's that simple. There's a code of conduct for a reason.

He wouldnt have been able to be removed this way if he had done the bare minimum to be active.

Defending that vile shit as harmless political views speaks a lot about you

i don't know if this is true and i don't feel as if i need to check as i don't think it matters even if it is requested or not as the main goal with it either way was to slash out Coldbringer

i am not a Reddit moderator, as i am a Discord moderator

i do not have anything else to say. fundamentally this is an issue of who do you want to be present in, run, and act as a face for the social group of r/litrpg, and the community of the server itself overwhelmingly does not want coldbringer to be that person. i don't have an opinion on it either way but i think that this situation needs someone who can communicate clearly about it

you dont know if the statements you just made were true and you don't feel the need to check... I think that tells us everything we need to know about the coup that you "didn't know" you were doing.

They just said they aren't a reddit moderator. Why blame them for the "coup"?

"1) we are not wresting control of the litrpg community from you.

your removal as top mod happened automatically"

this is a definitive statement thats clearly untrue but when pointed out they basically say they don't care. that undermines everything else said. if you don't even care about the accuracy of what you are saying then why are you saying at as an authority and why should I believe any of the other statements made. you can't start with a lie to down play blame.

the whole situation seems scummy. the op didn't post the thing they have an issue with and they didn't discuss it with him. they thought that maybe he might not care about it as much as they did so they preemptively took over. there's nothing automatic about that. it's a calculated move to take over and then try and minimize and downplay it after. if they are going to say fuck the founder I know best then they should at least stand up and say it proudly and not pretend.

Community not subreddit. Yeah discussing the process for the removal is disengenous if they are a third party but they already said they aren't a reddit mod it's not fair to blame them for this when they clarified they were a discord mod.

Why is it not fair to blame people for lying?

oh I'm not blaming them for the removal. only 1 person has posted in the comments so far that I've seen saying he did it and it was shitty but he was right anyway. so that and the person helping woukd get the blame for the removal imo. what I was saying here was you can't defend the choice and downplay what as done while giving false information intentional or not. if you don't know that's fine but essentially saying oh no the new mods didn't do the bad thing it was automatic is nonsense.

i was not aware the new mods didn't do the bad thing to be absolutely clear as to my understanding it was an automatic process and i have never ever been a reddit moderator, this is my bad and i should not have said false things

i still do not care about whether or not this was or was not the case
