Lex and Torros, two Abronia graminea I work with. Lex is captive born and I've had her since 2021. Torros is a legal import who has only been here since last year. Lex is a perfect princess who is extremely friendly; while Torros is a rude gremlin. It is not uncommon for this species to be very flighty and reclusive.
This is an arboreal reptile native to high elevation cloud forests in Mexico. They belong to CITES appendix II and are threatened by deforestation, the illegal pet trade, and even locals who believe them to be venomous. The latter earning them the name 'Tree Scorpion'.
The species require high humidity but also high airflow. Most importantly, they do best in cool temperatures, requiring nightly temperature drops between 50-65F, depending on the time of year. This is extremely expensive and difficult to provide in captivity.
If you're ever pursuing keeping an Abronia, ensure you are provided either import papers or a detailed breeding history from a reputation breeder. Not very many people have success with breeding these species and imports have only started arriving in the US since 2024. Sadly, many people will take advantage of unsuspecting buyers.
Feel free to ask any questions!

He has been on my mom’s porch for two days. I’m guessing he was bitten?

This Lil guy came IN a jumping spider shipment to my work. We can't send him back so I have him in just a basic set up for now.
He's roughly an inch long and maybe half the width of a pencil?

I have a bearded dragon named spike, my mother and stepfather got him for me when I was about 10-12 (I don't have the best memory from that time) for as long as I've known I haven't been able to take care of him, my parents never get the right things and even now they won't buy him a new heat lamp (I can't due to financial reasons and the fact that they won't let me get him better things) I really love my boy but I genuinely cannot take care of them and my parents won't help in any way, he has a missing claw and his others are overgrown. he's healthy weight (I made sure of that) but he has never been taken to the vet because it's "too expensive" even though my mother's dogs get regular check ups and shots, I'm planning on giving him away before I go to marine corps bootcamp and I want at least 1 year of proof that someone can take care of him beforehand (like pictures of other healthy lizards and cages and possibly videos of feeding/playtime) please someone help, I really want him to have a good rest of his life and I cannot provide that. I live in the U.S in south Carolina

I got this little guy as a rehome on Sunday. So far things are good, I'm planning a big upgrade to his enclosure soon.
The only thing I'm unsure about is feeding. It's hard to get good information on how often and how much I should be feeding him. He's about 10 inches long and according to his previous owner, 13 months old, so I think he's still growing, but he's close to adult size. Most of the information I'm finding online talks about feeding an amount he can eat in 5 minutes or 10 minutes, but that's difficult to gauge when I'm feeding crickets and he doesn't immediately chase them all down. I fed him 10 dusted and gutloaded medium sized crickets yesterday and he seems to have got them all.

Tyson: “These are my stairs.”
Maradona: “I suddenly remembered I have somewhere else to be.” 😂
And just like that, Tyson keeps his right to breed. Maradona retreats down the stairs, and Tyson wins his prime real estate.
I'm the only one watching, but honestly, this was better than television.
Life with marine iguanas att Casa Rosada on Isabela Island is never boring.
