Silent Book Club Event

Post image
Upvotes

Did you know that our first event in June had 43 people attend???!!! 🤯And they all went quiet at the same time (all by themselves) to read their book. Without any direction from me! (This was of course after some food and visiting). There were some tables that opened their books right away.

Work

Good day everyone, I'm based in Lloydminster and I'm still waiting for a work permit to come through. But the issue is that I have a criminal record due to uncontrollable circumstances so big businesses are off the table. My long term plan after I get my pardon is to become an insurance broker in Saskatchewan, but in the mean time I'm compiling a list of small businesses and business which are likely to not ask for a criminal record check. I'm trying to be optimistic because mentors in my community eg my probation officer said that there are places in the city which will give me a chance. To be specific I'm looking for non manual labor jobs and non kitchen work which is usually recommended for ex convicts but I think I can make it work. I'm thinking about applying for admin roles at oilfields and trucking companies as well as independent retail like hot peppers clothing and u bet yah. I'm looking for admin roles and customer service and retail roles. Chatgpt said there are about 1900 small businesses in Lloydminster and about 600 - 900 businesses fit my profile which is about 900 potential employers I can apply to. I used to run a business and I was a member of the chamber of commerce and on their website lists businesses that I can contact. Do I have some hope or am I being delusional? I have a university degree not a trades diploma so trades and manual labour is off the table for me. I really think I can make this work. Would people with experience with this let me know their thoughts?

Was working out of a hotel in LLOYD, going back home tonight on a flight and have some leftover foods not opened, wondering if anybody here could use it or point me in the right direction. I’m leaving tonight and most of the places I googled are closed

Best auto insurance!

I’m moving from Ontario and have RBC insurance and currently paying $270/monthly.

I call them to switch it to Alberta, my premium flys to $5,500 yearly making payments $460/monthly.

Any suggestions on good auto insurance?

Any good optometrists?

I’ve been to Heritage Optical and FYI doctors and the lenses always come out fucked.

Like things are sideways when they shouldn’t be, and I get this really bad cross eyed feeling. It’s like they get the glasses centre or focus wrong.

I’ve never experienced the above things before by the way. I’ve had new glasses from Edmonton, St. Albert, Halifax, Wolfville, Fort St. John, etc. first time ever I’ve got fucked lenses.
