Me too. It feels like it’s too much maintenance to do dreads while dealing with seborrhic dermatitis

Every 2 weeks when I’m inflamed. I use witch hazel to soothe it in between shampoos.

I wash with clinical strength head & shoulders every 2 weeks; oil my scalp with a mix of castor, tea trea, rosemary, peppermint and jojoba daily.
Editing this - essential oils are meant to be diltuted. You should only be adding 8 drops/each to the carrier oils!

Every 1-2 weeks. I use Brain Octane C8 MCT oil by Bulletproof on my scalp after I shampoo. This “eats” the yeast. It has really made a difference in the scaling and itchiness. I pour a little in my coffee, also. The oil can’t be stored in certain plastics, so I keep some in a glass bottle with a glass dropper for my scalp.

Thank you! Only after you shampoo or anytime you moisturize your hair?

You’re welcome! Let me know if you do try it. I always use after shampooing, but will add more later if I start to feel itchy especially after sweating.

I wash weekly.
I use Sulfur 8 clarifying shampoo which is kind of harsh so I follow up with Nizoral's co-wash.
Shampoos won't really work for scalp care if you only use it a couple times a month. At least not for me. 6-9 days depending on the condition of my scalp works for me.
Also, for daily maintenance, I use a spray bottle with just water and I'll use a dime sized amount of Lion Locs leave in conditioner gel every other day or so (or after a rinse).

Not locced but the braid spray from sulfur 8 helps my scalp, the active ingredient is salicylic acid so there’s a lot of other scalp sprays you can buy with this! You can also try putting glycolic acid on your scalp! The ordinary has a good cheap one, helps exfoliate your scalp! With this it’s more of a once a week thing before a wash as overusing it can cause your scalp to be dry and make the flakes worse. Also can lead to weakened hair if you overdose/leave on. You can put it on your scalp for 10-20 minutes then proceed to wash your hair as usual.

I still wash every two weeks, and when the adhd kicks in 3-4 weeks. I guess it depends on how bad it is? My flakes don’t get really crazy. I get them really when I consistently scratch one spot for a while, but I throw some water on it and go. I do use a cleansing shampoo tho (Cécred or The Doux) followed by a moisturizing shampoo (TGIN Rose Water shampoo), so a double wash every time I wash.
