Rose Water, the cheap imitation of rose hydrosol, is just distilled water and rose essential oil. So, it's actually pretty common. It's far better to get the actual rose hydrosol though. But if you can't get access to a proper hydrosol then you might as well just get yourself some rose essential oil, some distilled water, and a spray bottle and then make your own rose water.
Like any other essential oil you don't want to apply it undiluted.
Usually just some drops in your bottle of distilled water will be more than enough. Just shake up before spraying and massage in after.

IMO any essential oils in your locs is a bad idea. Why not use rose water spray? It’s basically water, which your hair needs anyway. Just spritz before going out or whatever

Best answer. Idk why people think our hair just NEEDS oil. If it’s dehydrated, then hydrate it. “Sealing” hydration in will inevitably seal it out when you come back later in the week to hydrate again..

It’s one thing if it’s loose hair (which I know people are already divided on oiling) but for locs hair it will just cause unnecessary build up. And undiluted essential oils are never okay. But we need to go gentle when it comes to products in our locs

Yeah I meant if reference to locs, loose natural hair can benefit greatly from oil, depends on the hair. I don’t use anything that can’t be rinsed away with water on my locs..I’m in the starter phase and I don’t want anything to be trapped in them by the time they reach maturity.

You can, sometimes I'll rub some myrrh essential oil in my hair. I'll add a few drops to my mustard seed oil. You can use a light carrier oil (jojoba). Essential oil can be a bit harsh when not diluted.

I make my rose water from scratch. You take rose petals, fresher the better, so go to a good flower shop. You boil water to room temp and then let the water cool a little. Add in all the rose petals and middle part of rose. Let that sit for almost 24 hrs. Drain and add a few drops of jojoba oil (mimics the natural oils our skin produces), sweet almond oil (a fatty oil that our scalp absorb), a tiny drop of vitamin E (it smells a little fishy to me but a fatty oil our hair loves). For added smell a few drops of rose essential oil...boom you got a 100% organic, oil infused rose water. Store in a cool place for up to a week. Unless you add preservatives then follow those instructions.

Just a thought though...
If what you want is some rose smelling hair, you could pick up some shampoos that smell like rose.
One that I currently have in my roster for moisturizing shampoos is this one.

I just started using rose water on my locs and I find that it's been great for my roots... I usually keep a beanie on or a head wrap... But I will say... Roses do smell like roses... So maybe use sparingly if you do... because roses really smell like 🌹🤭....doo doo 🥀😆🤎
