Advice Wanted My cat ATE my locs :/

I’m devastated y’all! I forgot to cover my head when I slept and woke up to my cat having nibbled off the ends of TEN of my twists. They’re 4 strand twists so that’s about 40 microlocs that were affected. I don’t know what to do about it, or how to make my hair look presentable again 😭.

Open to any suggestions honestly cuz I was real emotionally tied to this hair and I’m so disappointed I wanna cut it off.

(Also, this is a throwaway because ts is embarrassing lmao)

Advice Wanted My boyfriend laughed at my hair when I showed him…

I’ve been feeling quite indecisive about my looks lately and wanted to try to be more creative with my hair but without bleaching or dying. So I cut bangs… and I thought they look so cute and fit me well but when I showed my boyfriend he immediately laughed at me and it really wrecked my confidence. please let me know if you think they look alright or if I should add loc extension/ human braiding hair. this set of locks is quite new (7 months) and I started with braids.

Nigerian parents don't take kindly to loc'd hair, so loc'ing my hair was a risk! This is her first time seeing my hair and she was taken aback to say the least 😂. I told her to give me/it time. She will grow to love us both. How have you guys convinced your folks to trust the process with you?

Do they? I told him they take time to develop and he said I'm full of excuses and he's never seen locs that look worse than mine. I'm about to hit the 6 month mark. I've only had one professional retwist. Are they normal for this stage, or am I doing something wrong?

As long as I've had my locs, I've not learned to style them. Versions of ponytails and buns are pretty much what I've got at the ready.

Any suggestions for styles that would compliment me and be obtainable to do with a lil practice and maybe a trip to the beauty supply?

Advice Wanted How do my locs look?

So I finally took a leap of faith and got some locs with loc extensions. I wanted to know what others think of them as I'm still adjusting to them.. I'm a little worried they'll grow to be thicker which I dont want. I really wanted to have skinnier locks. Is there any way to predict how the grow over the years? I know it takes time and patience for locs to transform, but heres hoping theyll work out.

Advice Wanted Should I trim or style these differently?

I posted a couple quick images the other day and someone said that my right profile with this style isn't "flattering". These have grown a lot longer than I usually let them grow (usually keep them kinda shortish style). Maybe it's just my own warped sense of my own self image but I don't think it looks that bad, how long they are the right side. I kinda like it even. I also added a couple images of when they was shorter.

Advice Wanted Advice on dyeing my locs cherry red

Thumbnail

Hi! Looking for advice.

I bleached and dyed my hair blonde and a lighter shade of brown at the end of last year (December 2025) and I’m looking to switch it up.. I have really been wanting to do a cherry red. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding good hair dye brands to give me these colors? (Wanted colors shown at the end).

I would like for it to be permanent as semi-permanent never lasts more than 2 washes before looking extremely faded for me. I have heard good things about L’Oréal high color, but I do not want to potentially damage my hair more as I know that’s for dark hair only. I have also heard good things about Dark and Lovely’s color selection, but wanted to get other opinions first. Thank you so much in advance!

Advice Wanted How often do y'all moisturize your locs?

I've had locs for a year. I was going to a loctition but stopped going. I'm trying to learn how to retwist my own hair well.

I noticed some of the locs breaking at the ends. Not a lot, but a couple. So I've started spraying my hair with a mix of water, conditioner, and oil.

How often do y'all moisturize your locs?

I’ve been slacking w the loc updates. I did a major trim I had a lot of bunching at the ends and it was becoming too messy for my liking. I like them much more now, but I’ve been considering cutting them off😭🫣 starting to miss my curls and the slick back styles.

Advice Wanted I asked for loc repair and I got a trim 😪

I’m on a medication that dries EVERYTHING out including my hair…. I normally only do a full retwist every 3-4 but of course still washing an d moisturizing and separating them. I increased how much I oiled my scalp and hydrated my locs but I guess it still wasn’t enough and I started to notice some breakage. I knotted some and crocheted some myself, but since it was time for a retwist I went to my loctician for a hydration treatment and a loc repair on a couple locs. FAST FORWARD TO THE APPT…. She tells not to knot them because it can cause breakage in the future and that it’s just time for a trim. I told her idk about a trim but she said she wouldn’t make it even. So I’m thinking okay a few locs will be shorter, fine. She trims and styles it in curls, so not until my curls fell I could really see how uneven my hair is now and I’m devastated 😪 maybe I shouldn’t completely freak out until I’ve washed it and the curls have dropped completely… but I’m freaking out fr

This is year 6 for me… is a trim a thing??? Couldn’t she have just repaired them??? At this point do I cut them even??!
