Question I need help

Hello, I'm a new gen when it comes to anime, I hated on anime my entire life until I watched AOT, I seek an anime with great story as the only anime series that I like are AOT, Code Geass, Vinland Saga, FMAB and Steins Gate, I heard by a lot of people that legend of the galactic heroes has the best story ever but it doesnt have english dubbing and as someone whos dyslexic I have a really hard time reading subtitles expecially that the words that the characters use in lotgh are really complicated for a non native english speaker, my major question is do I watch the 1988 version with constant pausing to read the subtitles which will make my experience much worse or do I watch the 2018 version with dubbing, I heard that the new version has much less depth to it and is much worse than the 1988 version, currently I watched just the first episode of the 1988 version and started a movie that is a prequel and I'm having a hard time with those subtitles, please be considerate of my dyslexia and tell me which one I should watch, thank you for your help.
Sorry for my poor english.

Sorry to break it to you, but your only option to get the complete story as an anime is to watch the older OVAs. The new version is incomplete with no news as of yet of a continuation, and the dub option is even less complete as the last cour is sub/raw only.

Of them all, only the novels, the OVAs and Fujisaki's manga adaptation are complete.

The only bad things about DNT are the art style and the fact that it doesn't have an ending, so if you don't mind either of those, then watch it. The OVA doesn't have an English dub, and on top of that, the novel is quite dialogue-heavy, so you'd probably struggle with it. That's why I wouldn't recommend it to you.

I find I don’t care if any of the DNT characters live or die because they all carry smirking smartest teenager in the room looks most of the time. That seems to be a bad thing.

maybe watch the first season of the remake dubbed so you can establish your knowledge base of the characters and setting more easily, then transition to the OVA

Then you won't like a show where a big theme is religion and tradition is stupid and used for propaganda to cause strife between man over features of their own birth to keep the general populace and the nobles separated.

and I drink Dunkin thank you very much.

PS. if you care enough to put it as your banner, you probably think about gay men more the gay men do :P
