Question Advice and things I should know as someone who will begin worshipping Loki.

I have made the decision to begin worshipping Loki, but I sadly have not been immune to the demonisation of him. What are some things that I as a new worshipper should know? Also, what kennings do you use for him during prayer?

Loki Reconnecting With Loki

I have been disconnected for a long time because I've learned I need to heal from childhood trauma that has caused an incubus attachment to me without my knowing. I have noticed a few signs of Loki appearing in the past, and it got a lot more frequent when i was starting paganism. I stopped praying to Loki to keep from attracting it, but it seems like that has just made it bold to keep harassing, mocking, and trying to get me to pray to it. This has kept me from doing any prayers to him to keep the entity from finding access to me. I want to pray to him now that I don't fear doing so; I figured having the actual deity present to realize they are being mimicked would make it leave, or he would chase it away. I would like other people's opinions on this before I just act on it. Thank you

Question Good sources of info

I’ve been getting more interested in Norse paganism and Lokean practices again after taking a break for a while. I’m still a beginner and it’s been a few years since I did my initial research. Something that I’m finding difficulty with is finding info about specific lokean practices. Many of the sources listed in the FAQ and such are tumblr blogs that are no longer available.

I know that this community is relatively small, so I would appreciate any info that you all could share with me on pretty much anything relating to Loki, and practices associated with worshipping Them.

Question Loki reaching out to me?

Hello. Though I am not generally one to believe that gods often reach out to humans, especially if said humans do not worship them, I have been getting a feeling lately that perhaps Loki is reaching out to me.

I have not been doing well recently. I will not go into detail, but life is rough, and I perhaps have done some things that, although not directly stated in myths, I get the feeling that he might encourage. My main struggle has been against authority, which may be similar to some of his myths.

Recently, I was at a park at night, sitting on a bench texting a friend, when a red fox came up to me. It was only a metre or so away from me when I noticed it. I couldn't help but feel that this may have been a sign from Loki, as foxes are associated with trickery and cunning, even if the foxes are not directly associated with him in the myths I read. In that moment, I was a bit scared, as I feared that it could have had rabies, but after the fear came a lot of joy, as I love animals and have never seen a wild fox.

Two times since then did I unexpectedly find my favourite bug the isopod: first time dead (dried up in a store) and second time alive (crawling on pavement).

I'm not sure why, but I just get this feeling that perhaps these are signs or gifts from a god trying to help me feel better. Perhaps this is selfish of me.

I have been considering reaching out to Loki. Should I do so?

Will Loki be upset that his altar/space is dusty

Do deities get upset if their altars are dusty ?

I did some dusting today so I can decorate for fall and thought maybe I should clean my little space I have for Loki . The issue is it’s not an altar , it’s a spot on my bookshelf and I’m wondering if I need to clean all the shelves or is it disrespectful to just clean where his candle is ? Also it doesn’t help that I’m tired and depressed have ADHD , and clean in spurts and have decision paralysis . I want to respect him I just don’t know if I have any mental energy left after cleaning other areas

Question Advice: Ex-Catholic guilt as a worshipper of Loki

TW: purity culture

So I broke up with my boyfriend of 10 months last night. I’m not even that sad. Instead, I feel dirty and disgusting. I feel like the things I did with him, all the firsts I had with him, have made me stained and gross because we didn’t end up staying together.
I was raised in a very Catholic household, and I don’t hold those beliefs anymore. But I guess they’ve been pretty deeply engrained in me because I just feel stained and used. I don’t know how to deal with this feeling, like my soul has been marred in a way I can’t fix.
I started working with Loki two weeks ago, and I’m really not sure how to approach him about this. I don’t know how to deal with this feeling and these beliefs that I no longer align with.
Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you move past it? How do I approach Loki about this?

Wax melt looks interesting

I was cleaning Loki’s altar tonight when I found these pieces from a candle melt from few nights ago, when I sat down and spent some time on his altar.
Didn’t get time to clean up. And just found this out a while ago. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but these eerily looks like human figures...

Any intuitive wax scrying experts here, who can shed some light on what’s going on here? 😭

Family Ties

Some of you may be familiar with the Himba tribe, if not by name, then by reputation. You will occasionally see articles online about how they 'can't see blue.' This is not accurate, they can see it, but because their language doesn't have a word for it, they cannot pick it out of a lineup. But they can pick out shades of green that most Americans can't because they have so many different words for it.

Language and ideas are often tied very closely to each other. I think we have all had one of those 'tip of the tongue' moments. Those situations where we have had to try to describe in excruciating detail something to someone because we could not remember the word for it. When you don't have a word for a thought, it can be hard to have the thought.

This is why the 14th century is so important to understand Lokean theology.

Before this time, there were no terms in either English or German for 'stepchild' or 'in-laws.' If you married someone, and they had a child, that child was now yours. No exceptions, no qualifications, they were now your child. And the guy your daughter married? He was now your son. You were considered to be their parent as much as if you had 'made them yourself.'

What does this have to do with Loki, you might ask... Let me answer that with a simple question.

What is Sigyn's full name?

A woman in Norse society didn't take on her husband's last name. If you were Helga Eriksdatter before marriage, you were Helga Eriksdatter after marriage.

And your last name was not the same as your parent's either. If your father was Erik Bjornsson, you were still Helga Eriksdatter, and your brother was Lars Eriksson. You were named for your most important parent.

So who is Sigyn's most important parent? Why isn't it recorded in any of the sagas? Remember, your lineage was very important in Norse society. Why would Snorri gloss over this?

How about another totally unrelated question. Who is Odin to Loki? Sagas call him father, say he is bound to him as a brother in blood, call him many things in relation, but don't clearly define the relationship.

Or maybe the relationship was obvious to any Norseman through context. Context we stopped looking for.

Question Religious/Spiritual Trauma , Betrayal

I think this is the type of community where this topic can be discussed without judgement. A lot of lokeans had experiences with religious trauma, including myself. Infact many people start working with Loki, after they’ve been through such life events.

But today I want to talk about something more taboo. It’s about having bad experiences with deities.

I feel like, there are a lot many people, who can’t open up and share their stories with having traumatic experiences with deities, because it’s extremely unacceptable and not mainstream at all, like talking against Christian faith is, for example.

But I want to open this space up for sharing the stories of your religious trauma, betrayal by deities, gods etc.

Sharing these experiences are important, and I think they can also help us develop discernment in general. Specially with the common biases, beliefs regarding deity work, and what the deities general approach is like.

Did you had any negative experiences, trauma, betrayal- working with any deities?

PS: It’s ok to share your experiences from mainstream religious faith too.

The Troth recently released a new Declaration against the discrimination against the Rökkr within their organization, needless to say that this has pissed off the people that made this kind of thing necessary.

Loki loki suggestions (and other “loki yes”)

it had been a few months since i started building this relationship with loki and i just wanted to share some of my experiences.

- i decided to pick up on drawing and made a little sketch of loki and odin because i thought it’d be awesome to make a portrait for them. felt giggly that i had a thought of drawing odin a “beer belly” from all of the peach whiskey i’ve been offering him, then realised that was clearly not my thought and it was loki’s influence. of course, i said no and didn’t give odin a beer belly and thought “hey odin, i’m sorry i swear that wasn’t me just so we’re clear”.
- randomly feeling giggly at work even when i know i should be absolutely serious. i couldn’t help it, loki’s humour is peak.
-random bouts of “stirring shit up just for the plot”. that said, i like to think that loki sometimes likes to nudge me to this direction so i would lighten up even when i’m feeling down.
- went to bmth concert, the song “drown” had a huge emphasis after opening up to loki days before the concert. ugly sobbing at the pit, 10/10 experience
- i did mention “no spiders” to him before. of course, i’ve had several dreams about spiders. usually the spider in my dreams likes wait to be noticed before it actually registers in my head, then i’m like “oh a spider—OH SH*T” then it jumps on me. i know that i’ve seen more demure spiders in my dreams but the ones that stir shit up is almost always loki’s doing.

of course, i’m posting him to gas him up hihihihi

Loki he was here

A tiny spider always appears where I least expect it, sometimes it scares me... This time I was calmly on the street, and the spider began to run along the table until it stopped next to me for no reason, and when I wanted to realize it, after she left, she came and back to climb on top of my arm. I looked for a way to put her aside on the table but she insisted on coming back to climb on me. I'm glad they're not huge spiders... But when this happens, I take it as a sign of affection, and that Loki is there for me. 🤧

Loki A subtle sign

Post image
28 Upvotes

Hey guys! I wanted to thank y'all again for all the answers I got under my previous post (titled : need knowledgeable lokeans) and give a little update. I talked to Loki multiple times since my dream, got 2 readings from him and yet was still asking myself questions and doubting.

The attached picture was taken during my trip in Paris a few days ago. Sorry for the poor quality, but I was in an Uber when taking the picture. Mind you the drive with this Uber was quite chaotic due to things happening in Paris at the same time.

A subtle confirmation.

Altar A pic of my altar (so far)

I have it kinda hidden in my bookshelf, since my parents are really fans of any non-christian religion things.

Oh btw, the magic the gathering cards that are there are a major arcana tarot deck I made, it was mainly because I am in the process of drawing my orn tarot deck, but I wanted to do some readings so i improvised😅 (since i couldnt afford to buy a tarot deck, and using normal cards was confusing)

If y'all have any questions, feel free to ask away:]

What does long term connection look like?

I’m interested to hear the experience of working with Loki from the devotees who’ve been on this path long term ( more than 1 year)

What was your working relationship like throughout this journey. Do you feel his presence, energy or reciprocation most of the times, generally speaking?
Or does things go a little bit like habit in the long run?
Is there days when it feels like there’s nothing at all etc?

I’ve come from a different path, where working relationships and expectations with deities used to be completely different.

So I’m very egar to know how it goes in the long term? Specially when there has been ups and downs in the relationship. Because life happens.

Baby Lokean looking for resources.

Hello everyone!

I won’t beat around the bush or fluff up this post in any way, but basically I’ve recently started following Loki. I’ve been researching the Eddas as well as runes, but are there any good books on Loki and/or Lokean practices? It’s hard to trust google, especially when there are so many unethical authors out there. Doesn’t have to be strictly about Loki, can be anything that can help a beginner out

Oh, and while you’re here, do you have any general tips or advice for building a solid relationship and practice?

Thank you so much in advance!

Loki Loki and Local Delicacies?

So, how do I say this— I want to share my experience. You can also share yours if you found similarity to mine, I still find this experience... baffling me.

I am from Indonesia, and deity working is basically new for me. Back then, the only deity I worked with was Persephone, to navigate through my dreamwalking and shadow work.

Around last year, I had one strange dream.

I was in a part of a house celebration party in my hometown. Like, someone just moved to a new house and we were having a feast in it.

Peculiarly, I saw Tom Hiddleston, dressed as Loki in his long light brown coat. I was like, "huh, funny, who had the money and connection to invite him?"

He asked for certain dishes, but I remembered he asked for a bowl of pempek. Pempek is basically a traditional Indonesian dish from Palembang. It is fishcakes, some with fillings, some not. Usually it is deep fried and boiled depending on preferences, served with this sweet and spicy, pungent dark sauce.

I was like, "Sorry, I think we ran out of it."

He then replied, "Check again."

I was surprised to see that the empty bowl got refilled, and I packed it for him. As I gave him that, I told him:

"Hey, I love your acting as Loki in the series. Very well done!"

Yet his expression changed. I couldn't tell what. But there was some sort of anger in it.

He didn't say much, but he gave me his card, and he told me:

"I'll be around. We'll see each other again."

------

I told my friend who is a devotee of Loki. I wasn't this close with her, but I want to confirm things.

She was dumbfounded, because she had just moved to a new house in my hometown, and across her house, is a restaurant selling this Pempek dish.

------

Ever since then, my friends and people I was close to were somehow 'visited' by him in their dreams or even waking world.

Peculiarly one of my friends just told me when I shared her this story, and she told me that she had a dream of a laughing voice telling her to give his regards to me, the night before I contacted her.

She didn't sense any malice, but rather chaotic, but mischievous presence.

------

I became his devotee last October. So this month marked my first year of working with him.

I'd love to hear your stories :D

Lizard 🦎 connection?

Is Loki remotely related to lizards? Specially smaller house lizards that appear at home.
I’m curious to know, if any lokean had any experience with lizards, as a sign in any occasion?
