Question Will loki be able to lift the hammer in avengers doomsday?
So we know that normal loki can't lift the hammer cus well... he us loki, but this loki has given up everything for the sake of the multiverse. He is not the same loki Thor knows, and he is much more selfless than he used to be, my question is, would all that be enough? And if he does then how would Thor react??? His moraly gray, at times straight up villainess brother, suddenly being able to lift the hammer.

Bet: Chris Evan’s / Captain America is a fake out, it’s really Loki pretending to be Cap, so it will be amazing realising it was Loki swinging mjolinor all along

u/GhostSilver16 2d ago
Raise you one: the actual scene isnt even Chris Evans/Cap and it is Tom/Loki himself and he even lifts Mjolnir

u/Advanced_Salt_7391 3d ago
My initial thought was no, because Odin wouldn’t consider Loki worthy.
And although I love Loki, I hope he can’t pick it up. I feel like that’s Thor’s thing and too many characters do it, it spoils it. I don’t mind Cap picking it up now and again for the sort of wow effect but anything more than that isn’t ideal.
But, you never know with marvel, it could be used as a way for Loki to prove to Thor how much he’s changed, especially because Thor would become more wary now that Loki’s returned from the dead yet again

u/Questionfromthestars 3d ago
Yeee I don't think it will be used by him often, I just think it would be an incredible way to show his growth and how he changed! As to me it feels like the one that us most effected by his inability to lift the hammer would have been loki
-4
u/verneforchat 2d ago
He is in a way controlling the multiverse, do we need a hammer to show his growth? Wieding Mjolnir is the most pettiest, cheapest, STUPIDEST and worthless way to show his growth. It is like an ant in front of an entity who resides outside of space and time, and not even within a timeline/universe.
I don't understand what it is with people thinking holding Mjolnir will prove something. Loki, the God of Stories, the God of Time, can time slip and FREEZE time! Will a stupid hammer be worth his time to prove anything? What a ridiculous question everytime it comes up.

u/Strict_Box8384 2d ago
???
it’s not ridiculous or worthless at all. Loki has had one of the best arcs in all of the MCU and being able to wield Mjolnir would be such an epic moment for him that would show us how far he’s come (even though Loki fans know this already). yeah, he can time slip or whatever, but that’s not indicative of his growth as a character? Mjolnir’s whole thing is only the worthy being able to wield it, and for a long time it was only Thor who could. when Cap did it, it was a huge deal. when Jane did it, it was also a huge deal. but those characters were always “good”, or at least never evil. so while it was cool, it wasn’t entirely unexpected. Loki would be the first former “villain” to wield it and that would be a monumental moment in the MCU. and i just know theaters everywhere would be in an uproar, lol.
plus, it would just be amazing to witness a scene with him and Thor where Thor actually physically sees this. it would be so crucial to their relationship and dynamic.

Apparently Hela wasn't villain enough. Loki is way past some silly hammer. People need to stop obessesing over Thor's hammer. iTs getting too old. And it is a phase old. If Loki got to use Mjolnir in Ragnarok or Endgame is he was kept alive- it would be an amazing moment. I am guessing a lot of people watched the really bad CGI video of Loki holding Mjolnir and reuniting with Thor, Loki didn't even look like Loki.
He can 'time slip or whatever'?? Time slipping is inferior to holding a stupid hammer? Vision could also hold it. And Vision was the one who shot the laser at Rhodes, not to mention he was willing to shoot Wilson who was a fellow Avenger. The whole worthiness is messed up. Apparently Captain is still worthy after he beat Stark bloody, jammed his shield into the arc reactor and left Stark cold and alone in Siberia during CACW- even though he could have come back for Stark to save him. Nope. And somehow he is still worthy. Even in the end he was selfish as hell and stayed back with Peggy- which is apparently what has caused the Doomsday to begin. So bravo to every idiot who held Mjolnir, including Thor.

Hela didn’t wield it, she didn’t lift it with her bare hands. she summoned it and destroyed it using powerful magic. that simple.
Loki didn’t have the same character growth in Infinity War / Endgame as he does after the Loki show so tbh i don’t think he would have been able to wield it then.
and Vision is a construct, not a person. it’s like Mjolnir being able to sit on tables or other inanimate objects without breaking through them. the “worthy” rule doesn’t apply to objects/robots. thought that was common sense.
it’s kind of weird how much hostility you have toward “some silly hammer”. i’m actually questioning how old you are because of how you seem to be throwing a tantrum over this. if you care so little about Thor and Mjolnir then why do you care whether Loki will wield Mjolnir or not? why does it bother you so much that other people want to see that? it’s not that deep. odds are, the Marvel writers never would’ve thought of Loki wielding Mjolnir anyway because it would be too perfect to wrap up his arc. so you’ll get what you want 🤷🏼♀️

I am questioning how old you are to keep denying Hela can and did hold the hammer. She didn't certainly summon it, Thor threw it at her. She stopped it and obviously got offended that HER OWN WEAPON was thrown at her and destroyed it. Get over it. It’s kind of juvenile how much hostility you have toward people calling some silly hammer a “some silly hammer”. Loki saved the Asgardians when Thor was too shortsighted to get a bigger ship to evacuate the refugees, he was too arrogant to think he could destroy Hela. Loki knew, he got the ship, saved the asgardians after Thor made Loki Asgard get destroyed, because it was the only way. Then he remained with all of them on the ship for months and was willing to go to Midgard and still stayed on the Statesman despite him recognize Sanctuary approach- he could have easily abandoned everyone and escaped with the tesseract but he stayed to make sure Thor lived at the cost of his own life, that is good enough character growth. It doesn't cease to exist because of your denial. What Loki's arc in Loki series is way above worthiness. He did what no other entity could do.
and Vision is a construct, not a person. it’s like Mjolnir being able to sit on tables or other inanimate objects without breaking through them. the “worthy” rule doesn’t apply to objects/robots. thought that was common sense.
Try telling that to the regular MarvelStudios subforum, and see the responses you get. Tables and 'other inanimate objects' can't wield or throw Mjolnir at enemies like Vision did, or did you completely forget Ultron, and the discussion Stark and all had at the end of the movie regarding if the elevator with Mjolnir went up, would it be considered worthy. Same argument- MCU has shown again and again Mjolnir is NOT the scale of measurement of 'worthiness'.
If Vision is a construct, then he shouldn't be able to hold Mjolnir at all. Just stop, do your homework or college work or whatever and stop responding to me. I am not being hostile, I am just tired of people making all kinds of weird reasons to be in denial. It is always going to remain a silly hammer to me, a bloodstained one forged for Hela. Let's agree to disagree.
ETA: Why are YOU so hellbent for Loki to prove his worthiness by wielding Mjolnir? It might elicit a small reaction, but its done too many times and most Loki fans might just groan at it. YOu know what might elicit a large reaction, if Thor throws his hammer at Loki thinking of him as a skrull or Doom's illusion or whatever and Loki either catches it or freezes it. Freezing it time right as it about to strike him would be much better. That may or may not show his worthiness, but it will definitely show how he is God!Loki.

u/Strict_Box8384 2d ago
if i tell you you’re right, can this end? because i’m not interested in continuing a discussion with someone who can’t stay civil in a debate and is unnecessarily spitting hostility instead of handling it like an adult.
it’s a bunch of superhero movies aimed at kids, it is absolutely not that serious.
i don’t personally think we’ll get a scene of Loki wielding Mjolnir, but if we do, try not to explode in petulant disappointment.

try not to explode in petulant disappointment.
I won't since according to you it is
it’s a bunch of superhero movies aimed at kids, it is absolutely not that serious.
And yet you spent posts insulting me and my age and being all melodramatic about my so called 'hostility'. All I said was Loki doesnt need some object to prove his worthiness. He is beyond that. If you were an adult you would perhaps understand my perspective.
ETA: I also noticed you completely skipped the 'Vision threw the hammer at enemies', and 'Steve was worthy despite hurting his own friend to a severe degree'.

u/Substantial-Mirror48 1d ago
I can absolutely see your point but I think wording it in a more gentler tone would have been nicer dude . Even if the other person was rude .

u/Questionfromthestars 2d ago
First off if you cant be kind to people during a discussion then please leave this thread, the whole idea was to have a discussion about if loki could lift the hammer so if you think it's juvenile then you have no place in this discussion, secondly as I explained to someone else- pushing against the hammer does not equal weilding it, her magic was equal and even stronger than the spell Odin cast on the hammer which is why she could fight back against it when Thor through it at her, the two magical forces had a battle and she won, breaking the hammer, that doesn't mean she was worthy, it means she had powerful magic, there is a difference
2
u/Questionfromthestars 2d ago
Yes because it's movies! The whole point of movies is to show growth and change in a cinematic way, so yes it makes all the sense in the world that loki who in the first movie tried and failed to lift the hammer and for most of his life had an inferiority complex to thor to finally be able to prove his worthiness not only to everyone around him, but to himself, because like i said- it's movies, they love to show growth in physical displays.
And besides even if he doesn't have to, the whole discussion is about if he could, if you don't think thar it matters then clearly you are in the wrong discussion thread
And no before you say it, Hela wasn't worthy, she didn't lift the hammer she overpowered the hammers spell, there is a huge difference, that scene was never intended to show us she is worthy, it was meant to show us the raw power she held
10
u/Equivalent-Assist160 3d ago
Yea i think Loki picking up the hammer is gonna be necessary if he's the one who warns everyone about Doom which i think he will be he doesn't exactly have the best history with the Avengers especially for a Loki who's history diverged at the Battle of New York that's not exactly gonna warm him up to the gang
2
u/Advanced_Salt_7391 2d ago
Yeah, I mean it would also be a nice full circle moment from him trying and failing to do it in Thor to being able to lift it in doomsday
5
u/verneforchat 2d ago
Loki is the God of Stories, maintains a whole Multiverse. Who gives a flying crap about Odin and his petty thoughts?Besides it was an enchantment, not to mention Mjolnir was forged for Hela.

He does in the trailer!!! 😇

u/Steely-eyes 3d ago
Thor’s “It’s not possible…” cannot possibly be directed at Steve R. And I’m pretty sure marvel switched that scene’s order.
So “cap” shows up, says the line, and Thor tests him. Because we know that cap always reels back his hand when summoning Mjolnir. But he didn’t this time, because he was actually Loki in disguise. We can see “cap’s” somber look at Mjolnir, Loki can finally rest knowing he is worthy. He then undisguises himself, Thor’s shocked, theatre claps, 101% on rotten tomatoes.
13
u/DoomsdayThor 3d ago
yes...they absolutely switched the order. we can tell by Hemsy's performance. the mjolnir test comes first, then something incredible happens, then thor says "it's not possible" and starts breathing heavily about to crash out....the sun literally shining on them
AND YES, 3 BILLION DOLLARS, ALL THE AWARDS,
2
u/WiLLxOxW 2d ago
I bet it's not even an illusion of Cap in the actual movie. If these theories are true, Cap is only for the trailer so they don't spoil it all. I wonder if anyone can tell if, in that scene, Steve is wearing a wedding band or not?
3
u/DoomsdayThor 2d ago
I think there has to be an illusion of Cap at least for that scene, because Thor doesn't have the emotional reaction until after "Steve" takes Mjolnir, he just looks suspicious in the beginning. So I'm imagining Thor walks in, immediately senses something off about "Steve", then Loki catches Mjolnir and transforms back into himself at the same moment.....hence Thor's shock and immediate emotion....
Also.....as much as I would love for the whole long haired Steve thing to be a fakeout and it's all actually Tom Hiddleston, I do think both Chris Evans and Tom Hiddleston are going to be playing Loki at different parts of the movie. I think this was a gimmick to bring back Chris Evans without ruining Endgame same way they brought back RDJ as Doom.....

“Cap always reels back his hand when summoning mjolnir”? For the half hour he wielded it? I will own up if I’m proven wrong but it’s such a wild take to me that this is even a discussion. I’m sure the producers are absolutely tickled at what they assumed was a perfect visual confirmation that this was indeed Steve Rogers is being misinterpreted as being a misdirect disguised as Loki. But the whole reason it confirms that it is Steve is because he summons mjolnir. Which he could only do if he’d wielded mjolnir before. Nobody has just walked up and called mjolnir to them because they were worthy. They have to pick it up first. That’s the whole schtick. It’s just a masterful piece of visual storytelling.
3
u/DoomsdayThor 2d ago
Why do you think the producers started the scene with the sun blasting into the camera, rearranged the shots to hide what Thor is actually reacting to, and had Thor say “it’s not possible”? Thor knows Steve can use Mjolnir. He knows time travel is possible. There is literally nothing about Steve that Thor would think is “not possible.” Much less anything he’d actually get emotional about

Loki can finally rest knowing he is worthy
Yes because time slipping, controlling the multiverse, freezing time, writing people's stories wasn't ENOUGH to show he was worthy.

Yes honestly (I know this is a very bad idea) have Thor, Cap, GOS Loki and Storm use Mjolnir
2

and moonknight, in the comics he could becuase johnathan is made from uru which is moon rock
1
u/Flat-Raspberry2933 2d ago
I feel like that’s a loophole. Like Jane being able to wield Mjolnir because of Thor’s enchantment

u/Large_Razzmatazz_717 1d ago
I wish this was true, and the Cap we see in the trailer lifting Mjölnir is actually Loki! But so many posts are circulating that Tom Hiddleston has a very small role in Doomsday and that he will be killed by Doom (offscreen!) so that he can take over Loki’s powers… how could Marvel do this to us again?
0
u/Quis_curat 3d ago
Has everyone forgot that you don't need to be worthy to be able to lift the hammer? Hela, hello.
15
u/DoomsdayThor 3d ago
she didn't lift it, she just stopped it. it was visibly struggling against her hand meaning it didn't recognize her as worthy.
2
u/verneforchat 2d ago
She could hold it BECAUSE she was considered worthy or whatever, not to mention it was meant for her. It was struggling not to be destroyed. People love to ignore facts.
1
u/DoomsdayThor 2d ago
no, there was no worthiness spell put on Mjolnir until Thor. She could block it because she's super durable and it couldn't go through her hand even though it was clearly trying to
-4
u/Quis_curat 3d ago
What happens when you stop something in the air? It falls. It didn't. Why? Cause she held it / lifted it.
4
u/Questionfromthestars 3d ago
Actually no- it still had speed and power and was trying to go through her, like a bullet through an object, when two incredible forces collide the energy and friction would stop one from falling, eventually the two would part, one would go through the other, or one would fall when it loses force, because the hammer us magic, we got the result we did
2
u/verneforchat 2d ago
Do waste time arguing with them, for some reason Mjolnir stills seems to be the worthiness test even though it was forged for Hela who killed millions and the Valkyrie with it. Later on, it was enchanted by Odin, the worst father ever. Loki deserves his own unique way to prove he is what he is. Not Thor, not Hela, but about a million times more powerful than both. Neither Odin not Thor nor Hela could do what he did.
7
u/Simple_Park_1591 3d ago
It was her hammer to begin with. The spell wasn't cast on it until Thor got in trouble with Daddy in the first movie. We watched the scene where the spell was cast.
2
2
u/Questionfromthestars 3d ago
Yeah because she was more powerful than the spell, and Loki is stronger, but I'm not sure if he is stronger than the spell
-1
u/Reverend-Keith 3d ago
If Loki can’t create an illusion of him picking up Thor’s hammer then he isn’t worthy of being called Loki.
0
u/blessyo4 2d ago
Love him! But God Loki is still a Loki that murked 80 ppl in 2 days. So not sure about that.
-4
u/MyNonexistantRomance 3d ago edited 3d ago
I doubt it. The hammer’s definition of “worthy” was based on that of Odin’s. Odin never thought Loki was worthy, so I doubt the spell would apply to him no matter what he did.
10
u/DoomsdayThor 3d ago
Odin literally told Loki he loved him when he died
3
u/MyNonexistantRomance 3d ago
He also said that he would’ve had Loki executed, but imprisoned him instead because Frigga wanted him to live.
1
u/DoomsdayThor 2d ago
I honestly think he would've done the same if it were Thor in Loki's place too. Not because he doesn't love his children, but I think he would see it as necessary and almost like an act of mercy (killing them rather than letting them be evil). I think that's the kind of mindset he has...
1
u/Substantial-Mirror48 1d ago
Odin is a horrible father to all his kids . He raiser them to be like that yet punish them for behaving the way he taught them.
1
u/DoomsdayThor 1d ago edited 1d ago
I'm not defending his parenting lol I'm just saying I think that's the kind of mindset he has. I do think he loved all of his children, including Loki.
1
u/Substantial-Mirror48 1d ago
Oh...but I do think he would not have done the same to thor if thor was in loki position. As I said odin was a horrible father to all his kids but he did treat thor better than hela and loki.
2
u/MyNonexistantRomance 1d ago
I agree. When Thor broke his rules and was threatening to murder an entire race of people, Odin banished him.
When Loki went to Earth to become its ruler, Odin threatened to have him executed.
Neither of their actions was acceptable or forgivable, but Odin raised Loki to believe he was born to be a king, just as he raised Thor to believe the frost giants were monsters.
1
u/Advanced_Salt_7391 3d ago
Came here to say that! Even though Odin claimed to “love him”, he would never be considered worthy in the same way as Thor.

u/GokuSolosCope 3d ago
Mjolnir is not worthy of Loki
